Respect Ed Beyond the Hurt Application form

Beyond the Hurt imagines a world without bullyinga world in which individuals, schools and communities all play a role in creating healthy, safe, and caring environments. This includes schools in which diversity is valued, inclusiveness is everyones goal, and respectful relationships will flourish. Beyond the Hurt is a program that trains 10-14 gr.9-11 students to deliver workshops to youth in grades 6-7 on bullying prevention. Presenters present in groups of 3. This program may be a fit for you if you are a student who: Shows leadership and leadership potential Has previous facilitation experience or willingness to try Has good verbal and communication skills Has a positive influence on friends Has regular school attendance Wants to help others and create a safe school for all students Maintains a positive attitude Is able to commit to the time required for practice and delivery (may be in school hours) Can make this a priority (not too involved with too many activities) Is emotionally healthy and not currently dealing with a bullying situation

Your Commitment: Complete an application form, and hand it to Ms. Marinkovic, or Ms. Vit by Nov. 23 Attend an information session on Wed., Nov. 14 at lunch in room 148. Complete the 2-day training Friday Nov.30 and Saturday, Dec.1, 2012 Deliver a minimum of 2, 3hr. workshops to gr. 6-7 students Make up missed classwork, as class time will have to be missed periodically to deliver workshops

You will receive: Guaranteed minimum of 22 volunteer hours with potential for more Experience in public speaking and workshop facilitation Valuable experience and references for your resume and post-secondary applications Increased leadership skills An opportunity to have a large impact in your community helping others
