Vedic religion effaced Adam from his own place of origin

By Dr.P.R.Palodhi We come to know from Islamic tradition that humanitys first Prophet Adam descended in India. But there is no mention of Adam in Vedas. There is allusion in the tradition [1] of holy Prophet Mohammed which says in Arabic: Qala ehbetu Adama be-Dahna ardil Hind. It means: Adam came to a place in India which was called Dahna. Even today there is town in north Sri Lanka called Jaffna which could be an altered form of Arabic name Dahna. Since unknown antiquity, the name of a mountainous terrain in Sri Lanka has been remaining as Adams Peak! Hazrat Ali is reported to have said that Adam appeared on a mountain in India (Kamil Ibne Asir). In Hujajul Keramah, an authentic Islamic source, we find mention that Adam came to India from his paradise. A Hadith narrated that after leaving Eden, Adam descended in India whereas Eve descended in Jeddah. They searched for each other, and finally found each other at the Plain of Arafat (near Mecca), which means recognition. It is stated in Guldasta-e-Kashmir (p, 21), Adam and Eve afterward settled down in Kashmir. Religious significance of Bharat is evident from its very name itself. The word bha means light; and rata means being immersed. This is the land where has shone first the light of Divine Revelation for mankind (Similarly the mount of Hera where the Holy Quran was revealed, was given the name of Jabel Nur or the Mount of Light). It has been strongly suggested by several scholars, especially from Islamic tradition, that humanitys religion is rooted in India. Sir Walter Raleigh (History of the world) in the 18 th century had stressed that the paradise of the Bible was in India and it was the first planted and peopled country after the flood. Although earliest of the Sanskrit authors had access to the precious religious imports from the Prophetic tradition of east bound Abrahams descendants and Zoroastrians in India, yet proper accounts of humanitys first Prophet Adam did not find reasons to flourish till today in Hinduism. Vedic tradition was basically the follower of pre-human race of gods called devas; and they hoped to dwell under Lordship of devas (Indra/Varuna) as long as days and dawns shall endure (Rig Veda, VII. 82-89). Hence they never could accept human Prophet Adam in their religion. Author von Roth tried to find analogy of Vedic Yama/Yami (twine son and daughter of Vivasvn) with the first human pair. But such proposition was out rightly dismissed by Professor Max Mller: There is not a single word in the Veda pointing to Yama and Yami as the first couple of mortals - the Indian Adam and EveIf Yama had been the first created of men, surely the Vedic poets, in speaking of him, could not have passed this over in silence. (Lecture on the Science of Language, second series, p.521). Proto-Indo-Europeans believed that behind origin of mankind (of their version) the progenitors were both man (Indic Manu, German Mannus) and god called Twine. Mallory [2] noticed that: the proto-Aryan yem (twine) underlines the name of a god common to the Indo-Iranians (Indic Yama; Avestan Yima), Norse Ymir, German Tuisto (Vedic Tvashtar), Celts Emuin all curiously meaning Twine. Brahminical writings suggest that Rig Vedic people were primarily descendants of Manu and gods like Tvashtar, Vivasvant, and Yima. Prophetic knowledge came to India via east bound descendants of Abraham and the Zoroastrians. After cultural fertilization between different sects, Brahminical authors could lay the deva-centric mythological foundation in Hinduism by amalgamating Prophetic imports with paganism of Brahminical Vedism. Hence we find a parallel of Adam as Adi-deva begins to emerge in later age writings of Puranas. This Adidev is also known as Naro-Narayan Rishi; after creating him Narayan (God) has made declaration: Abatarang karisami Tatrama Marchao Priyo (Ananda Sanghita; 17/27. 2- 28). This means everyone should bow down to this Avatar.

In the Quran as well we find that God after creating Adam commanded everyone: Bow down to Adam (Q, 2: 34). Puranic Adidev has been tested through Kama or Kamdev (Vishnu Bhagabat Puran 11/4/7-16) likewise Adam has been tested through Satan in Bible and Quran. Asko Parpola (pp. 151, 189) [3] noted that this re-born sex-god Kama has parallelism with Varuna; both Kama and Varuna are represented in pictorial script as riding the fish (hence called minurti in Tamil). We find Fish also is the emblem of cunning Mesopotamian god Enki who claimed himself as god of creation (nu-dim-mud = sa nab-ni-ti); Likewise, Varuna also claimed: I, Varuna, am the sovereign, to me were given the first existing high celestian powers (RV, IV.42). God has revealed in Quran: Be not like the Companion of the Fish. (Quran, 68: 47). The adoration or veneration of the fish emblem is clearly and emphatically forbidden in Deuteronomy (4:15-19). Pagan authorities of Hinduism abhor Gods Revelation; thus Adams identity has been buried under Adi-deva myth while Vedic gods like Varuna and Kama continued flourishing. In Hindu mythology, this Kama was burnt to ashes by Siva, but was reborn as Krishnas son Pradyumna (Visnu Dharmottara Purana: 3, 52). Makara, another mount of Varuna in addition to fish, was also the ensign of Pradyumna (Harivamsa 10639, 10882; MBh 3, 281, 27; 13, 11, 3). The shrine at Besnagar dedicated to Pradyumna was marked by a makara-dhvaja as early as 2nd century BC. Adams identity comes out from obscurantism of Adi-deva muths when we judge Puranic mythologies in the light of revealed scriptures. The revealed truths of Adam in the Bible and Quran have striking similarity with some Puranic accounts of Adi-deva (e.g. Bhagabat Puran, 11/4/7- 16). The name of Adams wife in the Bible is Eve (in Hebrew Chavvah); in Islamic tradition Hawa; and in Indian tradition we find the wife of Adidev as Hawavati (Bhavishya Puran). And that original woman is also called Urvashi (Nirukto 5/13) because she has been created out of Uru (thigh) of Adidev (Skandha Puran 5/3192/41-4) -- likewise in the Bible (Gen; 2: 22, 23), Eve has been created out of the rib of Adams body. There are parts of Hindu scripture which probably are not imports of the distant past but written at a time when Bible and Quran have already been familiar to the Hindus. Thus in Bhavishya Purana, the 28th verse, 4th chapter, 1st part in the book Prathisarga-parvam narrates the Adams episode similar to the book of Genesis: "Indriyani damithwa Yehyaathmadhyaana parayana: Thasmad Aadama naamaasou Pathnee Havyavathee smritha" Adaman and his wife Hawaavathy are born with all the virtues, complete control of the senses and the spiritual forbearance of the mind. God creates a captivating paradise and gifts it to Adaman to live happily. Adaman reaches beneath the tree of sin in the garden, eats its forbidden fruit, tempted by Kali disguised as a snake, as a result his carnal desires come alive, which culminates in his involving in sexual intercourse with Hawavathy (In his book Divine Harmony, Christ in the Holy books of the East Arvindaksha Menon introduces Bhavishya Purana in the following words). The son of Adaman and Hawavathy is Shwethanama (Seth). His son is Anoohan (Enoch). Then the lineage goes like this: Keenashan (Kenan), Mahallalan (Mahallalel), Viradan (Jered), Hanukan (Enoch), Manochillan (Methuselah), Lomakan (Lamech), and Newhan (Noah). Not only that, the lineage beginning with Noah to Abraham also found alike. The sons of Newhan are Siman (Shem), Haman (Ham) and Yakuthan (Japheth). Sons of Japheth are Jumren (Gover), Majoojan (Magog), Maadi (Madai) and Theerasan (Tiras). The son of Siman (Shem) is Arkansadan (Arpachshad). His son is Simhalan (Shelah). Then Evrathan (Eber), Phalajan (Peleg), Reu (Reu), Jujan (Servig), Nahooran (Nahor), Taharan (Terah). For Taharan the sons are Aviraman (Abraham), Nahooran (Nahor) and Haranan (Haran).

INDIA A SANCTUARY OF ADAM AND EARLY PROPHETS Hadith of Abu Huraiah (RA) in Kitabul Ambia of Bukhari Sharif informed that: Allah created Adam on his face (alaasurathi), of height sixty feet (arms length) Therefore, everyone who entered Paradise will be on the face of Adam. And the creations have been losing height until now. We are yet to grasp the meaning of this revealed truth for several reasons. Modern science has not yet determined the exact point of human (Insaan) origin; we only find that human height is gradually decreasing but even the earliest Homo bones are not that extraordinary in size. If bone of Adams early descendants was more porous they would turn into dust faster. Keeping aside all such conjectures let us focus our attention to other reports: Adams foot print: In Shri Lankas Kohe Sarandiv, there is a huge foot print (5 feet 7 inches by 2 feet 6 inches) which Muslims and Christians believe as Adams -- but Buddhists claim it is Buddhas and Hindus claim it is Sivas. Adam's Peak (also Adam's Mount; Sinhalese Samanalakanda Butterfly Mountain, Tamil Sivanolipatha Malai), is a 2,243 meters (7,359 ft) tall conical mountain located in central Sri Lanka. It is well-known for the Sri Pada "sacred footprint", a 1.8 m rock formation near the summit; this provided opportunity to present polytheistic Indian traditions in setting up their respective idolatry by claiming it as Buddhas foot print by the Buddhists, and Sivas by the rival Hindus.

Traces of Holy tombs (excessively large) in India/Pakistan: If we probe into the mysterious archaic Holy Tombs and sanctuaries in India, the largeness of the Tombs is very intriguing. Often there are extraordinarily large tombs which are now being taken care of obviously by the last custodians of revealed religion i.e. Muslim saints. A.N. Cunningham reported (1862-63) that between the Mani and Kabir mountains of Ajyoddha there is a Muslim Holy place, where lie two huge sized tombs, 64 and 47 feet long east-west wards, are said to be the Tombs of Adams descendants Shis and Prophet Ayiub (Muslim India, p. 15, April, 1988). Prophets companion Ibn Abbas (R.A) informed that Adams Tandur, i.e. cooking furnace was situated in India (Tafsir Fatahul Kadir, Allama Saokani, II part, p.474). After several years research, M. J. Khokra holds that Noah and his son Hams descendants have settled in Gujarat, and a 240 feet huge Tomb in Barila Sharif belongs to them (Rojnama kowmi jang, 13 March, 1988, and Rojnama Munsif, Hyderabad).
