History of magic Magic has its roots in the ancient world where magical services where readily accessible and used. All variety of success and misfortune depends on the proper harmony with the god and the various forces, spirits that shape the world. Popular historical uses of magic include in 1. war 2. fertility 3. individual health 4. good fortune 5. love Various civilizations used magic in its various forms (spells, curses, blessing) from Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt and the Greek societies. Many civilizations constructed their houses and cities around ceremonies and rites. In the Bible we have one of the earliest records of the use of magic by King Saul (King of Israel), Egyptian magic against Moses and the Israelites and the Babylonian magicians and Persian magicians who used magic against Daniel a prophet of Israel. The word magic is derived from the Greek mageia, Latin magia which referred to the rites and ceremonies of magicians. One of the most popular uses of magic that has stayed into the modern age are love magic or love spells. Love spells are used to instill or repress feeling of love and affection.
