The Junior High Classes of St. Albert the Great Catholic School will be celebrating a Veterans Day Mass on Monday, November 12, 2012 at 8:30 AM. Refreshments will be served in the school following the liturgy. We would be pleased and honored if all of the veterans in our Parish would come and join us. Please feel free to share your stories, photos, uniforms, and memories with the students. If you would like more information regarding this very special event, please call the school office at 708 424-7757. We hope that everyone understands that they are welcome to attend our liturgy and reception, not just our students and veterans. We hope to see you Monday.

Catholic Campaign for Human Development - Nov. 18, 2012

In recent years alone, CCHD has committed over 36% of its total funding to defending human life and dignity by providing community organizations with the financial resources they need to address the specific issues of economic development, education, and housing. 46.2 million Americans lived at or below the poverty line in 2010, an increase of over 2 million since 2009. With many families living one paycheck away from financial instability, there is little hope that more Americans wont face poverty in the years to come. The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) funds programs in communities across the United States where people living in poverty join together to identify problems, make decisions, and find ways to improve their lives and neighborhoods. Your support helps end poverty one community at a time. Please visit www.usccb.org/cchd to read more about CCHDs efforts to spread Christs love by helping to break the cycle of poverty in your community and across the country.

THE POOR As Christians, we hear a lot about the witness and service that we are called to render to the poor among us. However, the poor also have a witness and a service to render to us. Like the actions of the widow in todays Gospel, the openness and generosity of many of those who are poor, even in the midst of their own poverty, bear witness to the fact that, ultimately, we can depend only on God. Giving ones all witnesses that God will give all to anyone who trusts in divine goodness. The poor or disadvantaged also serve. They serve judgment on our individual and corporate ways of acting. If people are sleeping in our streets, that is a judgment on our priorities regarding others. At the same time, the poor can act as mediators of salvation. When they care for others they can redeem our indifference and insensibility, lead us to care as well, and save us from ourselves.

KNOW THE MASS ONE WORD AT A TIME Point I didnt notice the power and the beauty of so many
things in my life, until someone pointed them out. Someone had to call my attention to these good things and summon me to see what had always surrounded me. I saw with new eyes. In a similar way, John the Baptist points out Jesus to the first disciples. John says, Look, the Lamb of God. Behold, the Lamb of God, who is already here among us. The same words have become a part of the Mass before Holy Communion, Behold the Lamb of God. Behold him who takes away the sins of the world. The priest holds up the host and points to the presence of Jesus Christ among us. We need indications. The things of God are deeply imbedded in our lives, but they may remain unseen. The Mass in its entirety points out the presence of the Redeemer in our lives the suffering and dying Christ in our struggles, the risen Christ in our sense of new life, the power of Christ in our fragility, and the merciful Christ in our acts of compassion. The Mass points out the Lamb of God who even now is with us. OUR WEEKLY OFFERING

Uroczysto Wszystkich witych Dzieci przebray si za Matk Teres, Ojca Pio, w. Mikoaja, w. Jzefa, Krlow Jadwig, Jana Pawa II. Uboga wdowa wrzuca prawie nic. A jednak to jej gest, a nie innych, pochwala Jezus. Tamci wrzucali do skarbca tyle, ile wymagao prawo. By moe w ten sposb byli przykadem dla pobonych, a dla zaniedbujcych obowizki religijne stanowili wyrzut sumienia. Ona wrzucia jeden grosz. Tak mao, e mona by go nawet nie dostrzec w skarbonie. To wydarzenie uczy nas przede wszystkim, e Bg nie lekceway darw, ktre skada Mu czowiek. Cho niczego Mu one nie dodaj i niczego w Nim nie zmieniaj. Poprzez nasze modlitwy, wyrzeczenia i ofiary, Bg nie staje si ani bogatszy, ani mocniejszy, ani szczliwszy. Niemniej jednak pozwala nam co Sobie ofiarowa. I jest to znak Jego mioci: kocha, to przecie oznacza rwnie przyjmowa dar od osoby kochanej. Mio kae ofiarowywa, ale mio take uczy bra. Bg patrzy na serce ofiarodawcy. Strzemy si zatem, abymy tego, co ofiarujemy Bogu, nie uwaali za obowizek religijny. Bromy si przed bezdusznoci, ktra Go obraa. Bromy si przed pobonoci bez mioci do Boga, bo ona Go zasmuca. Ks. Zbigniew Sobolewski
