and performance. The course introduces the key types of
network level conditon data, and illustrates, through the
use of worked examples, how this data can be efectvely
analysed and summarized to facilitate ratonal decision
making and allocaton of resources. The course also covers
the preparaton and analysis of data to support the calibraton
of network deterioraton models.
The course includes computer work in which partcipants
will implement the principles through use of Microsof Excel
macros and the JunoViewer sofware.
Topics Include:

Bridges are valuable assets, which cannot be built and then forgoten. Defects do occur which require
atenton during the life of a bridge. Natural events such as foods and earthquakes cause damage. Some
bridge components deteriorate and require replacement within the life of the bridge.
The bridge environment can afect durability and must be recognised. These areas must be addressed and appropriate maintenance
carried out to ensure contnued public safety as well as to maintain the asset and minimise repair costs.
Topics include:
Asset management systems
The inspecton procedure
Conditon assessment for common bridge materials
Repair procedures
Coatngs for steel structures
Economic evaluaton
Durability and maintenance of bridging materials
Maintenance requirements
Waterway, drainage and seismic damage
On completon of this course partcipants will have the knowledge to:
