Michigan NOW Announces Endorsements for the November 6, 2012 General Election
The Michigan NOW Political Action Committee and the Michigan NOW State Coordinating Council announce 95 endorsements for the November 6, 2012 general election. These include 23 additional candidates since the August 7 primary and two changes from Support to Endorse in the House 68th and 69th District races. Additionally, Michigan NOW urges voters to vote NO on Proposals 1, 5, and 6 and YES on Proposals 2, 3, and 4. We urge all voters to consider women rights issues and Michigan NOWs endorsed candidates and ballot proposals when they cast their votes in the general election, said Bobbie Walton, president of the Michigan National Organization for Women. In this election, the fundamental right of a woman to decide reproductive matters for herself is on the line. The candidates we have endorsed are respectful of womens rights and deserve every voters support. In accordance with Michigan NOWs Endorsement Guidelines, incumbent candidates voting record, answers to the candidate questionnaires, and personal knowledge of the candidates were considered in making endorsement or support decisions. Those candidates answering all questions correctly were eligible for a designation of Endorse and may receive a donation from the PAC. Those who answered all or most questions correctly were eligible to receive a designation of Support. In the table attached, E stands for Endorse and S stands for Support. Newly endorsed or supported candidates are designated in bold. Federal candidates are endorsed by NOW PAC, the federal PAC run by the national office of NOW. The state and local government candidate questionnaire forms are available at www.michnow.org/pac.

For More Information: Bobbie Walton, President, Michigan NOW, 202-497-6393 (cell) or Mary Pollock, Legislative Vice President and PAC Administrator, 517-351-7292 or 517-449-2386 (cell).
