REFLECTIONS ON MOCK INTERVIEW DAY, 10/26/12

We had a wonderful day thanks to the hard work of Kathie Wilcox and the very generous recruiters, who spent hours with our students sharing their wisdom. We would like to thank the representatives from ACCOUNTTEMPS, THE BARTER COMPANY, KOHLS, KROGER, RIGOR, ROSEBUD TECHNOLOGIES and TARGET for the lessons learned. LESSONS LEARNED: TIPS ON INTERVIEWING

1. Professional attire is important: Wear a two-piece matched suit when interviewing. 2. Eye contact is key! 3. Posture is important: sit up, don't slouch. 4. Minimize hand gestures because they are distracting. 5. Prepare for BEHAVIORAL interview questions: "Tell me about a time when you..." -The appropriate response is always a story about what "YOU" did, not what "we" did. 6. Utilize work or KSU examples when responding to questions, avoid personal responses.
and above all else...BE ON TIME and NEVER, NEVER...MISS AN INTERVIEW...traffic and oversleeping are not valid excuses...
