Information: (30 minutes) Prior to beginning this lesson, students should already have gathered their notes and research on their topic. Students should also have background knowledge of how to capture a picture of the iPad screen and be able to access pictures from the camera roll. The teacher will demonstrate all steps using his/her iPad through the classroom projector.

Each group will open the Doceri app and select from my iPad alone. Open a new docment by selecting the + in the bottom left corner. Use the default template. A blank whiteboard screen will appear. Go through each of the drawing tools in the toolbar at the top (utensil selectors, color selectors, and eraser options). Utensil selectors: There are six different writing utensils available: pen, marker, spray can, sharpie, highlighter, and paint brush. There are four image buttons which allow you to design shapes, venn diagrams, arrows, straight lines, etc. Color selectors: When a writing utensil is selected a color pallet will appear. Here you may select from a vast amount of color options to enhance writing/drawing. Eraser options: There are three different eraser options in Doceri. All are located on the right hand side of the toolbar. The first option allows you to select the size of the erase for smaller touch ups. The second option is to the right and looks like curly arrows. These allow you to undo or redo a whole drawing or piece at a time. The last option looks like a windshield wiper. Using this tool will erase all content on the entire page. Inserting a picture. To do this, select the button on the left side of the toolbar that looks like a picture (mountains and sun). Two options will open 1) place image from iPhoto Library, and 2) Place image from Camera. If you would like to upload a previously taken picture select the first option, and your camera roll will appear. If you would like to take a picture select the second tool. Once you have inserted your picture you may position/resize it how you like on the page. Adding voice recording. On the far left hand side of the toolbar you will see a red record button. Select this button, and then select start recording. While recording, the rec button will light up red. To stop recording select the lit up button and then select pause recording. DO NOT select stop recording until you have finish recording on each slide. When you select stop recording your presentation will automatically save and be finished. Allow the student a few minutes to practice with this recording option. The students will now open a new presentation and begin inserting their information.
