Third Grade Newsletter 2nd Nine Weeks

Language: This second nine weeks students will understand: Letter/ Sound Relationshipsvowels (long and short) and consonant and consonant clusters Spelling Patterns- short vowel patterns in multi-syllable words High Frequency Words-use self monitoring strategies Word Meaning- recognize and use multiple meaning words Word Structure- plural forms, tenses, prefixes and suffixes Word Solving Actions- notice known words and word parts, notice patterns and categorize high frequency words, use the context of a sentence to help figure out the meaning of a word.

During the second 9 weeks 3rd graders will be learning multiplication and division concepts and problem solving with both operations. It is very important that our owls practice their multiplication facts until they become automatic.
