Hannibal Lecter M.D. is a fictional character made famous by Anthony Hopkins in the 1991 smash hit The Silence of the lambs. His rendition of the character was utterly scary, and creepy to say the least. The Joker is a fictional character originally made famous by Jack Nicholson. In 2008, the late Heath Ledger took over the role as The Joker. He would lock himself in a motel room for weeks on end, studying the character and developing his interpretation for his role. Heath Ledger died right after the post-production of The Dark Knight. He won a posthumous Oscar for his performance playing The Joker.

If you do get casted as a villain, your sole purpose is to create a character that is credible, and believable. As an actor, you always want to portray real and multiple dimensional characters. In order to play the villain, you must get inside of the characters head to see what makes him or her tick. Keep in mind that not all villains are completely evil. Some have the ability to be reasonable and understanding, it all depends on the way you depict your character. Your goal should be to create a villain that you love to hate. You want the audience to empathize with the character, but yet question his motives. To add multiple dimensions to your villain, you can give them beliefs or traits that makes them likeable. You have to the director, as well as yourself; what is your characters method of madness? A good villain has a plan or an objective, even if it isnt realistic. Give them a motive. To get casted as a villain, you will need to create a power presentation to showcase your skills in a casting call and/or an audition. Make your power presentation as interactive as possible! This means to use visual aids or props to make it fun and exciting. A power presentation if done right can land you an acting job in the entertainment world. Here are three tips to enthrall the casting directors: 1. Create your own evil laugh, every villain has one. First off, work on the evil grin then progressively work on the laugh. Try to be as terrifying as possible 2. Be unpredictable. Try to be fun and exciting, but dont fake it. 3. Always have a positive attitude!
