Afraid to vote for Romney because hes Mormon?

Well, let me tell you what I know about the Mormons. My best friend (for 40 years) is Mormon and she has never tried to project her Mormon beliefs onto me or convince me in any way that I should convert. The Mormons Im speaking of are the mainstream group. There are others who profess to be Mormons that believe in plural marriage but this is not the group to which I refer. Plural marriage is no longer allowed as it changed in 1898. This came from the fact that the Bible states when a brother died, his brother was to take in the widow and her family to see that they were taken care of. Ive attended their Sacrament services and what we call Sunday school so I know first hand what they teach. I also have a best friend who was Catholic (he died); one who is Jewish; one who is Protestant and currently I attend Bethany Pentecostal Holiness Church.

First and foremost, they dont worship Joseph Smith. They worship Jesus Christ and God, as indicated by the name of their church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ive visited several Mormon churches and they display pictures of Jesus on the interior walls. I cant name you even one protestant church Ive ever attended (including the churches of which I have been a member) that had pictures of Jesus on their walls! They dont display crosses because the cross represents death and Christ is "still alive" (because of the resurrection). Their Bishops and other Church Officials hold down full time jobs; they are not compensated for their work in the Church in any way; they dont get a salary or have their houses, health insurance, or anything else provided by the church. They all volunteer their time. You don't find many Mormons on welfare because the objective of the church is to make each member self-reliant. They take care of their own. They actually have grocery stores run by the Church where their poor members can get food (which they do not have to buy). To pay for the food they volunteer to work in the food pantry or give their time to the church in other ways. AND contrary to what some people think, they dont dig up dead people to baptize them - how the dickens would you baptize a skeleton anyway? They baptize ancestors by proxy. If you dont know what proxy means; it means someone stands in for the deceased person. Baptizing for the dead is in 1 Corinthians, Chapter 15, verse 29 (King James Version) which states Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead? Read it for yourself! They believe in and live their lives according to the Bible and in upholding the laws of the Constitution upon which the nation was founded. They also serve in the military; contrary to what many people believe. They love, care for and protect their children and families as they should. Every Monday night is set aside for family activities only. This time is dedicated to doing things as a family on that night whether it be, studying the Bible, playing games or whatever to include all family members. They dont smoke, drink or do drugs; they dont even drink caffeine. They dont lie, cheat or steal, following the commandments in the Bible. One thing that stands out to me is that ALL female members of the family are just as educated as the males; girls are sent to college even though they may decide they will

be a homemaker. They then have the education to fall back on should they want to work later.

Each member, or family, has two male priesthood home teachers, whose assignment is to visit their members on a monthly basis, and assess their special needs. Each woman member is also assigned two women visiting teachers. The visiting teachers call on those they have been assigned to visit once a month. They also assess how their women are getting along and offer love and support as they assist them in their various needs. Both home teachers and visiting teachers have a special spiritual message to leave in the members home at each visit. In theory every member is contacted twice each month. This practice assures that each members needs are met. I know of no other church (including my own) that shows as much interest in its members as does the Mormon Church. This is the polar opposite of a church I used to attend. I called one day to notify the Preacher that a member (of over 20 years) had suffered a stroke and was in the hospital. Their answer today is the Preachers day off. Needless to say I no longer attend that Church. Each elderly person (family) has a volunteer advocate who keeps in touch with that family and helps them in any way they need, whether it is getting groceries for them, if they are unable to, writing checks to pay their bills for them, and even mowing their lawns if that is needed. My own morals and principles are so aligned with theirs that they refer to me as a Dry Mormon - which means I just havent been dunked yet baptized into their church. They donate millions of dollars, food, etc. to natural disasters like Katrina. They were one of the first groups to respond to that disaster and the first boots on the ground in Haiti were the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints members. Anyone who thinks or says otherwise is either totally ignorant, repeating lies, or overcome by some evil force. GOOD members of the Mormon Church attempt to live Christ like lives. As the Bible says "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you".
