Offering placed on the communion rail next Sunday, during Holy Communion, is used to help those in need in our church and the community. Sunday Theme for Nov. 4 - White Sunday - The following items are needed: toilet tissue, 6 oz. or 8 oz. foam or paper cups and 55 gallon heavy-duty trash can liners. Operation Christmas Child - As you fill your shoeboxes, you can drop them off at the office during normal office hours. Please remember to include a check payable to Samaritans Purse with Christmas Shoebox in the memo field. All shoeboxes must be returned to DHUMC no later than Nov. 12. Mark your calendar - Thanksgiving dinner, November 16 at 6 pm. Menu sign-up sheets will be available on Oct. 28. We are going to try something new this year at our Thanksgiving Dinner and Pastor Daryl needs everyone's help. He would like to create a slide show, to play on the projector, that is full of pictures from the lives of each of you, showing something you are thankful for from this past year. It can be a picture of the new addition to the family, a picture from an incredible trip, or any other reminder of how you have experienced the feelings of thanksgiving this year. If you would email those to him, or lend it to him to scan, along with a brief caption about the picture, he can put those together to share with everyone in attendance. Meet Bishop Carter - Sun. Nov. 18 at 4 pm, laity will have an opportunity to meet with our new Bishop at Gator Wesley Foundation, 1380 W. University Ave., Gainesville 32603.
