Part II Write a 150- to 250-word response to each of the following questions: How is discrimination different from prejudice and stereotyping?

Prejudice to me refers to a persons negative judgments or views about a certain group made lacking knowledge, thought, or reason. It is basically their first impression of the group in which is based on stereotypes. A stereotype to me is a negative generalization towards a group of individuals based on samples that does not signify or characterize the individuals or group, which the generalization come to be so well-known, it comes to be a conventional (predictable) image for the individual or group in questioning, frequently acknowledge as truth by an irrational and unreasonable bunch of individuals. Stereotypes can also be a type of prejudice if it is negative in generalizations and detail. Discrimination in my opinion is excluding or eliminating a group of individuals from rights, privileges, or services based upon their prejudice or stereotyping ways towards other individuals. All people can have biases in which contains stereotyping and prejudice; conversely when a person acts on these concepts then it is considered to me discrimination. What are the causes of discrimination?

To me discrimination can be caused by several reasons, one in which is learned behavior. If a person grew up around the acts of discrimination and seen it practiced by their parents, then most likely the child will probably follow their parent footsteps and have the same mind-set as well. There are several factors that can play a role in discrimination

such as race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, clothing, as well as social status. But the number one reason I believe causes discrimination is lack of knowledge and teaching on diverse cultures to our younger generation. Our ancestors did not have the knowledge and resources we have today, the problem is parents and teachers do not utilize them resources to the fullest extent by teaching about discrimination among different cultures. In this day and time culture should be a mandatory class for our children to take in school so they will have the knowledge and hopefully will not discriminate towards others when they go into adulthood. How is discrimination faced by one identity group (race, ethnicity, religious beliefs, gender, sexual orientation, age, or disability) the same as discrimination faced by another? How are they different?

I believe there is not any difference here. As I have already mentioned several examples and types of discrimination. (Race, religions, ethnic, beliefs, etc.) I believe we cannot avoid these types of acts or things from happening, especially if people are outnumbered, in their minority. Discrimination is the prejudicial or harmful treatment of other individuals based solely on their association - or perceived association- within a particular group or category. It can involve actual behavior towards the group such as rejecting or limiting individuals of one group from chances or opportunities available within another group. This contains prohibiting or limiting individuals of a group from chances or opportunities that is available to another group. Provided are three forms of discrimination: Realistic competition is motivated by selfishness and is meant at attaining material resources (such as, food, clients, and domain) for their in-group (such as, choosing the in-group so they can attain more sources for their members, as well as themself). Social competition is motivated by the demand for self-esteem and is intended for attaining a positive and certain social status for their in-group comparative to their out-groups (such as, preferring the in-group so they can make it better enhanced and developed than the out-group). Consensual discrimination is motivated by the necessity for accuracy or clarification and also reflects steady and legitimate in-group status orders (such as, choosing a higher rank in-group due to its higher status).
