The year 2012 will mark the Diamond Jubilee (60th anniversary) of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II to the throne of the United Kingdom and several other countries. Elizabeth, currently the second-longest reigning British monarch after Queen Victoria, was proclaimed as the sovereign of the 6th February 1952. On this occasion, a look at some of the memorable images from the times of her life and reign.
