Women + Film VOICES Film Festival Intern

Location: Denver Industry: Media/Film Festival Job Level: Entry/Internship Company and Film Festival Description: Since 1978, the Denver Film Society (DFS) has worked to promote the medium of film as both an art form and a civic forum, developing a program that includes year-round screenings, community outreach projects and renowned special events. It is in fact the only nonprofit organization in Colorado dedicated to engaging both its members and the general public in a lifelong, life-altering relationship with and understanding of film and film culture. Entering into its third year, the Women + Film Voices Film Festival occurs in conjunction with International Women's Day. The 6-day Festival showcase documentaries, feature films, salon discussions, and many in-person guests in order to highlight thought-provoking, inspirational stories of women from around the world. In addition, the VOICES Salon Series will feature inspirational and accomplished women from the Denver area, as well as festival guests, leading discussion on relevant issues featured in the Festival. Job Description: The Festivals Producing Director is looking for 2 motivated and energetic interns to join the team for Voices 2013, to assist in all aspects of putting together a small film festival. The intern will work closely with the Managing Director and the Denver Film Society staff to promote the festival as a whole, and will help coordinate coverage and press opportunities for approximately 15 participating films and associated artists. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience on the behind the scenes work of a film festival. We are looking for an intern who is available to work at least 15 hours a week and must be available for the festival 3/5 3/10. 2013. Areas of responsibility will include: Watch preview screeners to gain working knowledge of films at festival Collect trailers and EPKs from Filmmakers Help with Filmmaker Itinerarys Help develop and implement a PR and outreach plan of action Help in writing Press Releases and Media Alerts Maintain contact with members of the press before the festival and send preview screeners when applicable. Handle duplication of screeners as necessary. Collect preview screeners after festival. Identify press opportunities for festival and attending filmmakers. Help pitch stories to press (for example, local filmmakers, alumna, first time filmmakers, award winning films, premieres, etc). Help with Sponsorship fulfillment collecting logo artwork and assembling sponsor packets. Help with Red Carpet and press events during the festival Help with Mobile Film Festival Other duties as assigned.

Time Commitment: Monday, January 14 Wednesday, March 13, 2013 with fewer hours at the beginning and more hours each week as the festival approaches. Candidate must have availability Tuesday, March 5 Sunday, March 10. Job Qualifications: Successful applicants will be self-motivated, deadline-driven, hard workers with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail important; a good, cooperative attitude a must. Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook essential. Must have transportation and the ability to use your own laptop would be preferable. Lastly, you must love movies! Salary: Unpaid Internship Compensation: A staff badge, which gives you access to all movies and receptions.
