TURNER VALLEY: HOME SWEET HOME

The 2012/2013 School of Biblical Studies (SBS) has begun, and we are settled into life at YWAM Turner Valley. We love our new home, and are so blessed to have been called here by God for this season.
We spent late summer in staff-training, preparing for our students to arrive, and for SBS to start on September 24th. We have 11 students this year, hailing from Canada, the United States and South Korea, ranging in ages from 20 to 66 years old! The school has just begun, but the students are doing amazingly well grasping the Inductive Bible Study method (the method of Bible-study we use in SBS), and we are having a lot of fun getting to know them. It is so apparent that each of them has been called by God to study His Word in depth, and they all have a desire to see the Gospel go out to the nations, whether that nation be their own, or whether it be a nation overseas. Its been wonderful to hear about their expectations for SBS - one student said she is expecting God to shake her God Provides! world; another said he is looking forward to soaking in Gods Word. We know God is going to In our last newsletter, youll remember we were waiting on exceed each students expectations as they seek to know Him through studying the Bible. We are God for $1800 towards amazingly blessed to be a part of what God is purchasing a vehicle and going to do in each of their lives through SBS! traveling to Turner Valley. Were excited to tell you that Throughout SBS, we will be busy teaching, God provided every cent we needed! It shouldnt surprise us grading students work, meeting with students oneon-one, and helping out in various areas (Michael when God provides - weve seen Him do it so many times. is involved in leading intercession, Helen has the opportunity to be part of hospitality). Our number While it can be easy to tell one priority, however, is seeking Jesus. As we friends, God will provide, prayed for this school as a staff, the theme of when we are waiting on the pursuing Jesus surfaced over and over. As much as Lords provision for our own this is a theme we have identied for the SBS situations, it is easy to feel unsure. Thanks be to God who students, we know it is imperative that we pursue provides, even when we doubt! Jesus as their staff. It is only out of relationship with Him that we will succeed in communicating He is good, and we are His Truth, and modeling lives that are dedicated to thankful for all He has done following Him. Please pray that both we and our (and continues to do) for us! students will passionately pursue Jesus this year!

Fall 2012

Introducing YWAM Turner Valley!

Michaels Progress
My desire for this year is to see my passion for God, people, and the Bible increase. I trust these desires will grow as I seek to integrate these passions more holistically. I hope I might model this holistic passion to the students at YWAM Turner Valley so that they will seek to increase their passion also. As we prayed about personal mission statements, what came to mind for me was a desire to see the things I am most passionate about come together. My last year of stafng SBS demonstrated to me the great importance of a holistic approach to life. Certainly one cannot be too passionate for God, but I believe that loving God includes loving others well.

Helens Progress
Having this ministry by the mercy of God, my mission is to equip students with a knowledge of and love for Gods Word, bringing about inward transformation that inspires outwardfocused sharing of Gods Truth which transforms nations. By His grace and in His power (not my own) His Name will be magnied. As each of the SBS staff prayed about their personal mission statement for this year, God put 2 Corinthians 4:1 and 12:9 on my heart. It is my desire that God would work powerfully through me this year as I teach and get to know the students He has entrusted to us; I am weak, but He is strong! Thank You Lord, for giving me this ministry!

Nestled between Calgary and the Rockies, YWAM Turner Valley exists to train, send and support Gods people to serve among the unreached. While YWAM TV is much smaller than YWAM Montana (our previous YWAM home), we have felt so welcome here, and are so encouraged to see that this base longs to see Jesus gloried in all that it does. YWAM TV is especially passionate about reaching the Shan people, a people group located in SE Asia (namely Myanmar, Thailand, and China). Almost all outreach teams sent from YWAM TV go to the Shan, and a team of people closely connected to this base has successfully set up an Inductive Bible school in SE Asia, aimed at equipping Shan believers to study the Word and to teach it to others. Pray for the staff and students of YWAM TV, and all the lives this base will touch!

Prayer Requests

God does in the lives of students as they immerse themselves in His Word! Pray our students will be open to all the Lord wants to teach them this year. 2. Our Teaching: Check out our teaching schedule on the right its a busy quarter for us! Our current support is at $710/month; please pray we will see an increase in this amount, as the suggested support level for a couple on staff at YWAM TV is $1000/month.
