Study of physical properties of drugs: Practical size and shape, Pka solubility, partition coefficient, crystallinity, polymorphism and hygroscopicity. Study of chemical properties of drugs. Hydrolysis, oxidation, reduction, recimization. Polymerization and their influence on formulation and stability of drug products. Formulation and preparation of cosmetics lipstick, shampoo, creams, Nail preparations and dentifrices, pharmaceutical calculations. Pharmaceutical Analysis and Quality Assurance: Concepts of qualitative and

quantitative analysis, fundamentals of volumetric analysis, methods-of expressing concentration, primary and secondary standards: concept of error, precision, accuracy, specificity, sensitivity, detection limit, linearity and range. Ruggedness, standards, standardization, calibration of analytical equipments. Principles, instrumentation and applications of following: Absorption spectroscopy (UV, Visible & IR). Fluorimetry, Flame Photometry, potentiometry. Conductometry and polarography. Pharmacopoeia assays and chromatography methods. Quality assurance and quality control methods, concepts of GMP and GLP and forensic pharmacy. Principles of NMR, Mass spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction. Pharmaceutical Chemistry: Structure, nomenclature, classification, synthesis, SAR and metabolism of the following category of drugs, which are official in Indian Pharmacopoeia and British Pharmacopoeia. Stereochemistry of drug molecules. Hypnotics and Sedatives, Analysis, NSAIDS, Neuroleptics, Antidepressant, Anxiolytics, Anticonvulsants, Antihistaminics, Local Anesthetics, Cardio Vascular drugs - Antianginal agents Vasodilators, Adrenergic & Cholinergic drugs, Cardio tonic agent, Diuretics, Antihypertensive drugs, Hypoglycemic agents, Antilipedmic agents, Coagulants, Anticoagulants, Antiplatelet agents. General characteristics and manufacture of antibiotics, vaccines and hormones. Application and scope of recombined DNA technology in manufacture of biological products such as insulin and human growth hormones. Biochemical role of hormones, vitamins, enzymes, nucleic acids, metabolic path ways: Glycoloysis and TCA cycle and transport across cell membranes. Pharmacognosy & Phytochemistry : Chemistry of natural products, tests, isolation, characterization and estimation of phytopharmaceuticals belonging to the group of Alkaloids, Glycosides, Terpenoids, Steroids; Bioflavonoids, Purines, Guggul lipids, proteins.
