Chapter 1. File Transfer: PC To PC
The File Transfer service allows one Bluetooth device to perform file operations on the File
Transfer directory. The configuration is as follows:
A desktop or laptop PC with an USB interface and the Windows 2000/XP/98SE/ME operating
system.
Attached USB Dongle on PC USB port.
All pictures were captured under Windows XP (English version only). For other OS, the
picture may be slightly different.
On Server (Remote device):

1. Right click on Bluetooth Configuration icon in the toolbars and select ‘Advanced
Configuration’.
2. Check the Computer name in the Identity content.(Users can rename the computer.) Then
press OK.

3. Select the Local Services tab and double click File Transfer item.
4. Enter the desired path to set up the shared directory. Uncheck the Secure Connection to avoid
the passkey requirement. Then Click on “OK”

On Client (Local device):
1. Select the Client Applications tab and double click File Transfer content.
2. Uncheck the Secure Connection to avoid the passkey requirement. Then Click on “OK”

3. Double click My Bluetooth Places in desktop and click View devices in range for searching.
4. When searching is completed, you will see an icon, showing your computer name, in My
Bluetooth Places window. Then double click that icon.

5. Double click the File Transfer on MISSORI (computer name) icon and you will see the
shared file list of the Remote device.
6. Right click on file and select Copy option from the pop-up menu.

7. Right click on the folder of the local device and select Paste.
8. If the file transfer is finished, it means the receipt from the remote device to the local device
works well. Conversely, if the file transfer the local device to the remote device also works
well, it means the transmission is successful.

Chapter 2. File Transfer : PC To Pocket PC (PDA)
To transfer files to another device, use the Bluetooth File Transfer application installed on your
device. The configuration is as follows:
A desktop or laptop PC with an USB interface and the Windows 2000/XP/98SE/ME OS.
Tested equipment: HP Jornada PDA 568.
Tested equipment: ANYCOM Bluetooth Compact Flash Card CF-2000.
Send/Receive File from Pocket PC to PC

Receive File from PC to Pocket PC
1. Plug-in Compact Flash Card to Jornada PDA. (Note: Please ensure to install Bluetooth software
properly.)
2. On the Pocket PC, click on Start -> Programs and tap Bluetooth File Transfer icon.

3. Tap Search button in Bluetooth File Transfer window for search.
4. When searching is completed, you will see a HP-SAMBA icon in Bluetooth File Transfer
Window. Then tap HP-SAMBA icon and tap Connect button.

5. Choose a file in file list and tap Get button.
6. If the file transfer is finished, it means the receipt from the PC to Pocket PC works well.

Send File from Pocket PC to PC
1. Repeat step 1~5 and tap Put button, instead of choosing Get button.
2. Select File Type item of ‘Type’. (Using All files) Then click any file.

3. If the file transfer is finished, it means the sent from the Pocket PC to PC works well.
PC sent/receive files to/from Pocket PC
1. Double click My Bluetooth Places in desktop and click View devices in range for search.

2. When searching is completed, you will see an Anycom Bluetooth Card icon in My Bluetooth
Places Window. Then double click Anycom Bluetooth Card icon.
3. Double click the OBEX File Transfer icon and you will see the Anycom Bluetooth Card
shared file list.

Chapter 3. Object Push Profile
The Object Push Profile allows one Bluetooth device to perform file operations on the File Transfer
directory. The configuration is as follows:

Tested equipment: 3COM Bluetooth Wireless PC card version 2.0 3CRWB6096.
Send File using 3COM Bluetooth Device

1. Double click Bluetooth Connection Manager in desktop and click Refresh to search
Bluetooth Device.

2. When searching is completed, you will see the remote device icons in Bluetooth Connection
Manager Window. Select a remote device and double click it.

3. Double click the Send File icon and the Send File window pops up. Then select a file and click
Open button.

4. If the file transfer is finished, it means the transmission from the Local PC using 3COM
Bluetooth Device to the remote device using Dongle works well. When BTW received the file,
it will save the file in the Bluetooth exchange folder location, which define in Local Services
PIM Item Transfer General tab Received items.

Chapter 4. Dial-Up Network Profile Access Internet Through PC
The procedure is described to access Internet and emails through PC. The configuration is as
system. A built-in or external Modem was installed.
Ensure the modem is installed first before operating Dial-Up Network function.
On Server (Remote device):

1. Verify that the modem of the PC works well. On server, open My Bluetooth Places, click on
My Device, and verify that the status of the My Dial-Up Networking service shows “Started”.
2. Right click on My Dial-Up Networking, and select Properties to ensure the modem is installed
and can be used to dial out.

Chapter 5. Dial-Up Network Profile Access Internet Through T39/T68
The procedure is described to access Internet and emails through PC and the Ericsson Bluetooth
enabled phone. The configuration is as follows:
system.
Tested equipment: the Ericsson T39m/T68 Bluetooth-enabled cell phone.
To search PC from T39/T68, users should initiate Pairing and then start connection.
I.) Initiate Pairing:
1. PC side: Right click on Bluetooth Configuration icon in the toolbars and select ‘Advance
Configuration’. Check the Computer name in the Identity content. (Users can rename the
computer.) Then, press OK.

2. T39/T68 side: In T39/T68 menu select ‘Extras’->’Bluetooth’->’Discover’, the screen will

display Searching for a few seconds.
3. In this period, you will see the device name in the screen of T39/T68. Then select that device
and you will see Passkey Request in screen. Enter the Passkey (you could input your own
passkey) and press YES
4. Then on the PC, Bluetooth Authorization Requested message will prompt. Click it and you
will see a Bluetooth Passkey Request Window. Then enter the Passkey same as just set in
T39/T68.
5. A paring succeeded massage will display in phone screen and save the device name in T39/T68.

II.) Start connection:
1. In T39/T68 menu select ‘Extras’->’Bluetooth’->’Discoverable’ and enter the phone name
(Default: T39m/T68). Then press YES.
2. On the PC, double click My Bluetooth Places in desktop and click View devices in range.
3. When searching is completed, you will see a ‘T39m’ icon in My Bluetooth Places window. Then
double click T39m icon.

4. Double click the Dial-up Networking icon and then a dialog window pops up.
5. Enter the user name, password and phone number ISP provided, then press Dial.

7. Double click the connection icon and then Bluetooth Connection Status Window will pop up.
You can verify the connection status.

To search T39/T68 from PC, users should also initiate Pairing and then start connection.

1. In T39/T68 menu select ‘Extras’->’Bluetooth’->’Paired devices’->’Add device’->’Phone
accepts’, the screen will display Ready to pair for a few seconds.
2. On PC, double click My Bluetooth Places in desktop and click View devices in range.

4. You will see ‘Add to paired device?’ in T39m/T68 and press YES. Then enter the passkey in
T39m/T68.
5. Then on the PC, Bluetooth Authorization Requested message will prompt. Click it and you
will see a Bluetooth Passkey Request Window. Then enter the Passkey same as just set in
T39/T68. A pairing succeeded message will display in T39m/T68, and save the device name in
T39m/T68.
II.) Start Connection:

1. In T39/T68 menu select ‘Extras’->’Bluetooth’->’Discoverable’ and enter the phone name
(Default: T39m/T68). Then press YES.
2. On the PC, double click My Bluetooth Places in desktop and click View devices in range.

4. Double click the Dial-up Networking icon and then a dialog window pops up.

Chapter 6. FAX Profile Application Setup Guide
The procedure is described for using BTW to wirelessly send faxes using a BTW fax server that has
an attached fax modem. The configuration is as follows:
system. A built-in or external Fax Modem was installed.
Ensure the Fax modem is installed first before operating Fax function.
Some versions of the Windows OS require dedicated Fax software in order to send and receive
faxes. This document exploits the MS Fax software that is built into Windows 2000/XP to
obviate the need for 3rd party fax software.
I.) On the Server (Remote device)

1. Verify that the modem of the PC works well. On server, open My Bluetooth Places, click on
My Device, and verify that the status of the My Fax service shows “Started”.
2. Right click on My Fax, and select Properties to ensure the modem is installed and can be used
to dial out.

II.) Verify Correct Setup of the Fax Server:
Setup for both Client (local device) and Server (remote device):
Procedures for client and server are the same except item 3 described below.
Note: In order to verify correct setup on your server, open My Bluetooth Places, click on My
Device, and verify that the status of the Fax service shows “Started.”
1. To Open Fax Service Manager, Click START, point to All Programs -> Accessories ->
Communications->Fax, then click Fax Console and Fax Configuration Wizard Window
pops up. Then Click Next.

2. Enter sender information that will appear on fax cover pages and Click Next.
3. (a) For Fax Server with real modem:

Select the real Modem device and Mark "Enable send". Then click Next.
(b) For Client device:

Select the Bluetooth Fax Modem and Mark "Enable send". Then click Next.
4. Key in the TSID of fax server and then click Next.
5. Click Finish, then the Fax Console Window will display the information.

III.) Start Connection for Fax on Client:
Note: Sending a fax from Server device doesn’t need to start the
connection, only directly start the faxing procedure described in the last
paragraph.
1. Double click My Bluetooth Places in desktop and click View devices in range.
When searching is completed, you will see an icon, showing your computer name, in My
Bluetooth Places window. Then, double click that icon.

2. Double click the Fax icon and you will see the connection message.

IV.) Send a fax:

You are now ready to open a file to send a fax. You can use the Fax device that is provided by Microsoft.
This device acts just like a printer. Simply use the Print… item from any application and choose the
predefined Fax device instead of your normal printer. Then, click Print.

Chapter 7. Network Access Profile For Windows 2000/XP
The Network Access service permits a Bluetooth client to use a Local Area Network connection
that is physically attached to another Bluetooth device (the server). The configuration is as follows:
A desktop or laptop PC with an USB interface and the Windows 2000/XP operating system.
(Client devices can also work under Windows 98SE/ME operating system.)
Bluetooth-enabled computers that have a hardwired Ethernet connection.
Stand-alone Bluetooth Network Access Points.
For 3COM Bluetooth Wireless PC card version 2.0 3CRWB6096, the procedures are described
in the second part of this guide.
To access network via Remote device from Local device, users should setup Internet Sharing on
server side (remote device) first, and then start Connection on local device:
I.) Setup Internet Sharing on server side (remote device):

1. Verify the Internet connection via the wired Ethernet LAN card of the PC works well.
2. Right click on Bluetooth Configuration icon and then select ‘Advanced Configuration’.
Check the Computer name in the Identity content. (Users can rename the computer.) Then,
press OK.

3. Click START, point to Control Panel and then select Network and Internet Connections.
4. Click Network Connections.

5. Right click on Local Area Connection icon and select Properties.

6. Select Advanced tab and enable ‘Allow other network users to connect through this
computer’s Internet connection’ in the Internet Connection Sharing content. Then press OK.
So, the setup for Remote device is done.
II.) Start Connection on local device:

2. When searching is completed, you will see an icon showing the computer name you set for
Remote device in My Bluetooth Places Window. Then, double click that icon.
(For re-search: right click, and select Refresh.)
3. Double click the Network Access icon and the dialog window will pop up.

4. Enter Bluetooth PIN Code and then click ‘OK’
5. After keying in the same PIN Code again at Remote device, the access network connection is
complete. At this moment, Bluetooth Configuration icon in the toolbars will turn to green
color.

Network Access Profile for 3COM

Refer to step 1-6 of setup Internet sharing on server side for Windows XP in the first part of this
guide.
II.) Setup on client side (local device):
1. Double click Bluetooth Connection Manager in desktop and click Refresh to search
Bluetooth Device.
2. When searching is completed, you will see the remote device icons in Bluetooth Connection

III.) Setup Lan Access Profile Setting:

1. Click COM Ports and Bluetooth COM Ports Window pops up. Then select “3COM
Bluetooth LAN Client (COM7)” port and click Edit button.

2. Click “Select now” radio button and select a remote device. (e.g. HP-SAMBA) Then click OK
button.
3. Click Close button.

4. Click START, point to Control Panel and then select Network and Internet Connections.

Chapter 8. Network Access Server Setting For Windows 98SE/ME
If users want to use LAN Access function in Windows 98SE and Windows Me, users need to
install the Internet Protocol routing software and follow the Network Access Server
settings.
Users should get Internet Protocol routing software from provider, e.g. WinRoute Lite 4.1.25
1. Right click on My Network Places icon in desktop and select Properties.

2. Click the Configuration tab in the Network window and select TCP/IP->Bluetooth LAN
Access Server Driver entry and then click the Properties button.

3. Choose specify an IP address tab. Enter IP Address “192.168.1.1” (or an IP address supplied
by network administrator). Enter Subnet Mask “255.255.255.0” (or an IP address supplied by
network administrator). Then click OK.

4. Confirm the setting in the dialog box of system. The setting will be saved after restarting the
PC.
5. Double click WinRoute Lite icon and select Settings tab.
6. Click 2nd network adapter (T1, cable modem, DSL, LAN,DirecPC, etc.) radio button.

8. Choose DHCP tab and select the correct Adapter that will act as a DHCP server (Using

Chapter 9. Network Access With Bluetooth Access Point
The Network Access service permits a Bluetooth client to use a Local Area Network connection
that is physically attached to another Bluetooth device (the server). The configuration is as follows:
A desktop or laptop PC with an USB interface and the Windows 2000/XP operating system.
(Client devices can also work under Windows 98SE/ME operating system.)
Stand-alone Bluetooth Network Access Point.
1. Using a PC plugged in Ethernet network to configured Bluetooth Network Access Point (EX:
BT3021) with wired Ethernet network.
2. First, opening Locator.exe and then click Scan button to find out AP in Ethernet network.
3. Second, click Web button to configure AP. (Note: PC LAN card must have the same IP domain
with AP at this moment. If not, please configure your PC LAN card.)
4. Third, please enter User name and Password setup in AP ‘s configuration pages.

5. After opening AP’s website, click Bluetooth page.
6. Then, you can setup Passkey that clients need to enter for accessing AP network.

II.) Setup on client side (local device):

2. When searching is completed, you will see the remote device icons. Select BT Access point and
double click it.
3. Double click the LAN access using PPP icon.

5. Key in Bluetooth PIN Code, that is the same with your BT Access point setup.
And then click OK to continue.
6. When Connect BluetoothNullConnection dialog pops up, click Connect to continue.

Chapter 10. Serial Port Profile Application Setup Guide
The Bluetooth Serial Port service allows two Bluetooth devices to establish a wireless connection
through virtual communications ports and then use that connection as if it were a hardwired serial
cable between the devices. The configuration is as follows:
The application on the server must be configured to use the correct communications port.
On the Server (Remote device)

Hyper Terminal connection using Bluetooth Serial Port Profile
I.) On Server (Remote Device)

To establish a Bluetooth serial port connection:
1. Click START, point to All Programs -> Accessories -> Communications.
Click Hyper Terminal. Enter a name and choose an icon for the connection and click OK.
2. Select COM Port item of ‘Connect using’. (Using COM5 for Server)

Hyper Terminal. Enter a name and choose an icon for the connection and click OK.

Chapter 11. HCRP Profile: Printing over Bluetooth Printer Adapter
The procedure is described how to use EPSON Stylus COLOR860 (Printer with USB port) with
BRIGHTCOM BIC2102 (HCRP printer adapter over Bluetooth). The configuration is as follows:
A desktop or laptop PC with an USB interface and the Windows XP/2000/98SE/ME operating
system.
Tested equipment: EPSON Stylus COLOR860 (Printer with USB port) / BRIGHTCOM
BIC2102 HCRP printer adapter. The printer must be set up correctly, powered up, and loaded
with paper.
Make Connection to your HCRP printer adapter

2. When searching is completed, you will see your printer (BIC2102-BRIGHTCOM) icon in My
Bluetooth Places Window. Then double click icon to open the printer properties windows.
3. If this is the first time you’re using this printer, system will notice you to install driver first.
Click OK to install the printer driver.
4. You can use the properties window to set the printing style you want. Click Print Test Page to
test the printer is install well.

Chapter 12. Printer Sharing Over Bluetooth LAP connection
The procedure is described how to use general printers without Bluetooth-enabled devices for
printer sharing over Bluetooth. The configuration is as follows:

Printer sharing is especially for general printers without Bluetooth-enabled devices, and is also
for HP deskjet 995C(Bluetooth-enabled inkjet printer) / MPI BT printer adapter. The printer
must be set up correctly, powered up, and loaded with paper.
Install Print Driver on Server Side

Install the HP 995C print drivers from the CD that was supplied with the printer. Consult the printer
manuals if you require assistance. Verify that the printer using USB port.
1. Click START, point to Control Panel and select Printers and Other Hardware icon.
2. Click Printers and Faxes icon in the Printers and Other Hardware Window.

3. Right click on hp deskjet 995c series icon and select Properties.
4. Click on the Sharing tab in the Properties dialog and select the “Share this printer” radio
button. Then enter the Share name. In this example, Share name is hp4.

How to get Full Computer Name
1. Click START, highlight Control Panel and then select Performance and Maintenance icon.

dialog will pop up.
3. Select Computer Name tab and Full computer name will be shown on the screen.

Create a LAN Access Profile connection with server that has printer sharing. Please refer to
LAN Access application setup guide for details.
How to add a Network printer
1. Click START, select Control Panel and then choose Printers and Other Hardware icon.

2. Click Printers and Faxes icon in the Printers and Other Hardware Window.
3. Click on Add a Printer button. This will activate the Add Printer Wizard as shown below.

4. In “Add Printer Wizard”, click on Next> to continue.
5. Check the box entitled “ A Network printer, or a printer attached to another computer”
radio button. Then click on “Next>” to continue.

6. Check the box entitled “Connect to this printer…” radio button and enter the Name
\\t-user\hp4 (printer sharing name).
7. Install printer driver if sharing name of printer has been found.

8. Select the “Yes” button to continue.
9. Click on “Finish” to complete.

11. You are now ready to open a file and print to the remote Bluetooth device.

Chapter 13. Active Synchronization Using Bluetooth Device
Active Synchronization allows users to create a partnership between Bluetooth device and PDA.
After you create a partnership, the user can use ActiveSync to keep information up-to-date on both
devices. The configuration is as follows:
Tested equipment: HP Jornada PDA 568.
Tested equipment: ANYCOM Bluetooth Compact Flash Card CF-2000.
On PC Side
1. To verify active synchronization between Pocket PC and PC using USB port.
2. Right click the Bluetooth Configuration icon and select ‘Advance Configuration’. Select
Local Services tab and check COM Port item of Bluetooth Serial Port.(e.g.COM5)

Chapter 14. Information Exchange Profile Setup Guide
The Information Exchange service provides a way to send, receive or exchange an object
(Microsoft Outlook items) to and from another Bluetooth device. The configuration is as follows:
A desktop or laptop PC with an USB interface and the Windows XP/2000/98SE/ME OS.
Supported Outlook items are Business cards (*.vcf & *.vcd), Calendar (*.vcs), Notes (*.vnt)
and Messages (*.vmg).
Microsoft Outlook 2000 or above is the only PIM supported in this release.
I.) Setup for both Client (local device) and Server (remote device):
1. From the Windows System Tray, Right click the Bluetooth Configuration icon, Point to
Advance Configuration, then Select Local Services tab. Double click the PIM Item transfer.

2. In the Business card requests content, select the "Choose a business card as needed" option

to allow remote devices to obtain your business card.
3. In the Received items content, you can set the ‘Bluetooth exchange folder location’ as you
wish. Just browse a folder location you want and then click ‘OK’ to change it.
4. For Business Cards, E-mail, Calendar Items, Notes and All Other Types, if it is selected as
‘Save to Folder’, the related information for above item will be saved at the ‘Bluetooth
exchange folder location’. Otherwise, if it is selected as ‘Do Not Accept’, the related
information will not be saved.
5. Business Cards and E-mail has another solution to save the related information to ‘Outlook
Express’, if it is selected as ‘Outlook Express ‘.
II.) Start Information Exchange:
1. Double click My Bluetooth Places in desktop and click View devices in range to search.
2. When searching is completed, you will see several remote devices and then double click the
desired remote device in My Bluetooth Places window. (e.g. HP-555)

The Information Synchronization service is used to synchronize a Personal Information Manager

(PIM) database between a Bluetooth client and server. The configuration is as follows:

The procedure is described how to use Bluetooth keyboard via HID profile. The configuration is as
follows: (Bluetooth mouse have the same procedures)
A desktop or laptop PC with Windows XP/2000/98SE/ME operating system.
Tested equipment: Bluetooth keyboard. The keyboard must be powered up correctly.
Make connection to Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse
Method 1 (By BTW)

Take Bluetooth keyboard for example
1. Make sure Bluetooth keyboard is on discover mode.
2. Double click My Bluetooth Places in desktop and click Entire Bluetooth Neighborhood for
searching.
3. When searching is completed, you will see Bluetooth keyboard (BCM2040 Keyboard) icon.

4. Double click icon on ‘BCM2040 Keyboard’ icon. It will pop-up a window for asking to allow to
connect to HID or not.
5. Click “Yes” to connect to the Human Interface Device.
- If it is Bluetooth keyboard, it will ask you enter a serial numbers by Bluetooth
keyboard, then press enter.
- If it is Bluetooth mouse, it will ask you click “OK” button by Bluetooth mouse.
If it is paired successfully, you could start to use Bluetooth keyboard.
6. It also could work on the DOS mode. After PC restarted, it will still work.

Method 2 (Push button on the Dongle)
Note: If you are a Windows XP Service Pack 2 user, please install BTW first as above. Otherwise
the button function can’t work.
1. Make sure Bluetooth keyboard/mouse is on discover mode
2. Push button on the Dongle about 3 seconds until LED start to flash slowly
3. Dongle tries to connect to Bluetooth keyboard/mouse
4. After connecting to Bluetooth keyboard/mouse successfully (LED is static ON), it also could
work on the DOS mode and even PC was restarted
5. If keyboard/mouse still doesn’t work, please repeat step 1~4.
