Sukkot 2012

This week we find ourselves gathered at one of the most anticipated times of the year on the calendar of Yahweh the Feast of Tabernacles or Sukkot! For seven days, we gather together and join in a celebration that reminds us of how Yahweh delivered Israel out of Egypt and caused them to dwell in tents in the wilderness. But not only do we look back, but it also causes us to look forward as well, to a future coming out, this time a gathering from the 4 corners of the earth where we have been scattered as it says in Ezekiel 20:3435 And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out. And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face. So we find that Sukkot not only teaches us of our past, but of our future as well. In fact, the feast of Sukkot actually becomes the shadow picture of the Hebrew wedding ceremony, and just as Israel was brought into the wilderness to dwell in booths in order to accept their Ketubah, wedding contract at Sinai, so Sukkot teaches us as well of the time that we will be brought into the wilderness again to finish this ceremony! Leviticus 23:34-36 Succoth: Strongs #5523 Cukkowth booths; from #5521 cukkah thicket, covert, booth; from #5526 cakak 1 )to hedge, fence about, shut in 2) to block, overshadow, screen, stop the approach, shut off, cover 3) to cover or lay over 4) to weave together Remember this feast teaches of future events as well so we find that its in the keeping of Sukkot that the approach of something is stopped/shut off, while something else is covered, fenced in, or hedged in, in other words protected! What is stopped/shut off? Gematria of Succoth = 486, same as the phrase ruach baar a destroying spirit; from #1197 baar to burn, consume, be kindled, to destroy, to be stupid, brutish, barbarous, dull hearted Not only does Succoth keep us hedged in and protected from the destroying spirit, but it also keeps us as His bride from kindling a fire that would destroy! *What could this fire be? James 3:6 And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. It would seem that the keeping of the Festival of Succoth has something to do with the words that we speak/our language! Its instrumental in teaching His Bride how to offer herself as a proper sacrifice, holy and acceptable in the intimate place (sukkah), instead of

becoming a fire that destroys by the words that we speak! And its only by understanding how to keep the Sukkah that we can be protected from the coming destruction! The first verse concerning Sukkot (Lev. 23:34) in the Hebrew has 16 words. 16 = the number of characteristics of love listed in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Love suffereth long, [and] is kind; love envieth not; love vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Love never faileth: *As Sukkot teaches us to present ourselves to our Groom, it also is the feast that teaches the Bride how to love! How to love not only Yahweh, but also each other is what happens as we build the sukkah. 16 is also the gematria of Strongs #981 batah to speak rashly or thoughtlessly, to babble, to talk idly; cognate of #1326 bathah a wasteland, devastation, desert (used in a prophecy in Isaiah 5:6 dealing with how Jerusalem would become a wasteland because of its failure to produce good fruit). Could it be that if we choose to speak rashly/thoughtlessly, to babble that instead of building the Sukkah that we will dwell in with our Groom that it instead marks us as one who is kindling a fire that makes us a wasteland? One who has failed to produce good fruit! This is very significant because Sukkot is also known as the Feast of Ingathering, from the basic view it deals with the ingathering of the harvest/crops, yet it also carries with it a prophetical sense as well the ingathering of the outcasts! Yet if we are a wasteland because of our words, then there is no fruit/harvest among us and we are not gathered! This is something that will keep up from entering into the festival of Sukkot! Psalm 31:20 Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion/sukkah from the strife of tongues. Strife: Strongs #7378 riyb to strive, contend; gemtria = 212, same as #6765 Tselophchad firstborn; from #259 echad one, unity & #6764 tsalaph to wound; in other words were not allowed access into the Sukkah if were one who wounds the unity! Its in the Sukkah that we find a refuge from individuals who spread strife and division through their words (kindling a fire)! *Notice the ending owth, forms the plural ending (booths) yet this suffix is pronounced the same as #226 owth sign, signal In other words, there is a specific sign that is associated and connected with whoever is being

covered, fenced in, or hedged in! There is a specific sign for whoever is being brought into the wilderness to partake of the wedding covenant for the Bride who has properly prepared her sukkah! This sign (owth) is attached to the 80 = ,which is also the value of the letter = mouth, language, words the sign/indicator of who is able to enter into the protected place in the days ahead has something to do with the mouth! To understand what this sign is we have to delve a little further! In both Psalm 60:6 & Psalm 108:7 Yahweh hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth. Rejoice: Strongs #5937 alaz to exult, rejoice, triumph; not used of leaping or dancing, but instead of the sound of joy 2 letter root are the same root found in Luz (#3870) almond tree, where Jacob dreamed of the ladder; this root is attached to the = to see, know, understand, and to perceive *Part of the sign of being one who is covered in the days ahead and in the fenced off place (part of your ability to maintain the sukkah) deals with understanding, perceiving, seeing, and knowing what was seen at Luz the ladder! Ladder: Strongs #5551 cullam ladder; a cognate word, cillem , means to modulate or escalate music; *Modulating music deals with changing from one key to another, in the Hebrew language every letter also has a corresponding musical note. *Remember the term rejoice was dealing with the sound! Could it be that our being covered and protected in the days ahead deals with our ability to hear and understand the sound of the music of the Hebrew language and then allow our mouths as well to repeat that? Zephaniah 3:17 Yahweh thy God in the midst of thee [is] mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing. Singing: Strongs #7440 rinnah ringing cry; from the root #7442 ranan to overcome, to cry out, to shout for joy, give a ringing cry The word rinnah/singing is spelled with the same letters as #5104 nahar stream, river; from the root meaning to shine, beam, light, burn, or to flow, a stream. As Yahweh sings over the Bride at Sukkot it acts as living water cleansing her, mikvehing her, and restores to her His light which now burns and shines within her! In other words teaching us how to be a light/fire that is honoring unto Him instead of the destroying fire that makes us waste and desolate! Matthew 5:14 You are the light of the world

This is very significant because in connection with Sukkot in Leviticus 23:43 That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I [am] Yahweh your Elohim. Brought: Strongs #3318 yatsa to go out, come out, exit, go forth; closely related to a Chaldee word which means to germinate, to expand, as plant Egypt: Strongs #4714 Mitsrayim double straits; from #4692 matsowr siege enclosure, entrenchment; *Notice the ending owr, same as light the place where the light is enclosed/entrenched/put under siege; from #6696 tsuwr 1 )to bind, besiege, confine, cramp 2) to show hostility to, be an adversary, treat as a foe 3) to form, to fashion, delineate Gematria = 380, same as lashon tongue *The very reason were brought out at Sukkot is in order for His Word to be germinated/expanded within us to become light! Egypt on the other hand is the place where the light of Yahweh and the tongue/language/singing is confined/bound! As long as the Bride remains here she becomes formed and fashioned into anothers image, instead of the image of Messiah! As long as she stays here, this is what causes her to fall into the category of the waste and desolate spoken of in Isaiah 5:6 And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it. Pruned: Strongs #2168 zamar to trim, prune; cognate of #2167 zamar to sing, sing praise, make music; there is no music here! Remember that in this Covenant relationship, both have a part to play (both present themselves Groom & Bride). So then not only does the Creator sing over us, but theres a requirement on our end as well to reciprocate this, so being found in this state causes us to be unqualified as His Bride! Psalms 22:3 But thou [art] holy, [O thou] that inhabitest the praises of Israel. Inhabitest: Strongs #3427 yashab to dwell, remain, sit, to abide, to marry *When it says that Yahweh inhabits the praises of His people, its connecting for us that as we sing to Him, it causes Him to dwell within our midst in this marriage relationship and in return sing over us! This term yashab is the same term used to describe how we are to dwell/yashab in booths at Sukkot in Lev. 23:42! So we find that the words that we speak/sing determine who comes to our sukkah and whether we become vessels of His light or instruments that spread a destroying fire! This same pattern is set in the rituals that were performed at Sukkot during 4

the Temple times. Theres a ceremony referred to as the water libation ceremony or Nissuch Hamayim. It was a procession led by the High Priest to the Pool of Siloam to gather a pitcher of living water. At the same time, another group of priests would gather large willows that would be waved back and forth making the sound of wind. These processions as well would include a flute player, who would call for the wind (willows) and the living water to return to the Temple/Tabernacle! Looking at Sukkot, we find its all about the words that we speak and a restoration to the pure language of Yahweh that becomes a hedge of protection! And its in this very ritual that we see the same pattern The wind and the water (language) returning to the Tabernacle to us! Genesis 2:7 And Yahweh Elohim formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. *The sages teach that the phrase living soul is better translated as speaking soul what made Adam different from all the rest of creation was that when Yahweh breathed into Him, he breathed into him the WORD and caused him to have the ability to relay that message! Yet weve lost this, our tongues have become a destroying fire leaving us waste and desolate and so we find that Sukkot offers us the opportunity to have this restored! Ezekiel 37:1-10 Dry: Strongs #3002 yabesh dry, dried; 2 letter root = shame, to act shamefully; because we have chosen to act in such a way that brings shame to our Husband, weve found ourselves in the valley of dry bones! Yet, these same letters also form #3427 yashab meaning to dwell, remain, to sit, to abide, to marry; describing how we dwell at Sukkot! The one who has been shamed can once again become a speaking soul at Sukkot! We see this pattern as well in Exodus 13 & 14 Israel comes out of Egypt and camps at a place named Succoth and from there to Etham (Exodus 13:20). Etham: Strongs #864 Etham with them: their plowshare; shares the same 3 letter root as the Biblical name of this 7th month (commonly referred to as Tishri) but in 1 Kings 8:2 called Ethanim (#388) enduring, from the root meaning ever flowing, constant, perpetual (as in the constant flowing of water) *So we have the Bride at Succoth in the 7th month, after this they cross the Red Sea, which is parted by a strong wind, Exodus 14:22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry [ground]: and the waters [were] a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. Dry: Strongs #3004 yabbashah dry land, dry ground; from #3001 yabesh to make dry, wither, be dry, become dry, be withered; same root as the term used to describe the dry bones in 5

Ezekiel! But this time the letter is attached, representing the breath/wind! So we have Israel crossing the waters, and as the cross its the dry bones having the breath enter into them again! Just like the water libation ceremony, the wind and the water (the wind and the Red Sea), and as they proceed forth in this processional, they cross on the other side, a living tabernacle with the breath having entered into them and they begin to sing in Exodus 15:1! Now, back to Psalm 60:6 Yahweh hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth. Divide: Strongs #2505 chalaq 1 )to divide, share, plunder, allot, apportion, assign, distribute, to scatter, to receive a portion or part 2) to be smooth, slippery, deceitful #2455 = to profane, pollute, the common & = end of days; In the end of days, one would attempt to pollute/profane the language yet, Yahweh has promised to share, distribute, allot us a portion or part, to assign this to those who have been scattered! Shechem: Strongs #7927 Shekem back or shoulder; from #7925 shakam to rise or start early, figuratively, to do earnestly or urgently *Shechem is often associated with the Hebrew language! Zephaniah 3:9 For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of Yahweh, to serve him with one consent (shekem). Sukkot actually teaches us of the restoration of the language in the end days, and it is this that becomes the sign/signal that marks those who will enter the sukkah/protected place! Yet it is also the language that becomes the barrier that will shut out the one who will seek to profane and pollute the bride as well! Language: Strongs #8193 saphah lip, language, speech, the border, the edge, or the brink the language becomes the protective border that surrounds the sukkah! *In the Hebrew, the 2nd part of this verse is in a slightly different order, instead of mete out the valley of Sukkot its the valley of Sukkot mete out. Valley: Strongs #6010 emeq valley, vale, lowland, open country; from #6009 amaq to be deep, profound, make deep, to be unsearchable = people, nation & = end of days; this is referring specifically to the people in the end of days! Mete: Strongs #4058 madad to measure, to stretch root = garment, covering

As we tie all this together we find that in the midst of one attempting to profane and pollute the Bride, that Yahweh has promised to garment/cover His people by placing them in the sukkah where He sings over His people, and one of the keys to being in this protected place is understanding His sound/His language and this enables us to keep our sukkah prepared for our Groom! This verse in Psalm 60:6 and the same one found in Psalm 108:7 are both preceded by the same identical verse as well! Psalm 60:5 & Psalm 108:6 That thy beloved may be delivered; save with thy right hand, and hear me. Delivered: Strongs #2502 chalats to remove, draw out/off, withdraw, equip (for war), arm for war, rescue or be rescued; to make strong, to brace up, to invigorate This is the root of #2504 chalatsim loins (*Same word is used in Jeremiah 30:6 Ask ye now, and see whether a man doth travail with child? Wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned in paleness? a description of the time known as Jacobs trouble!) *Yahweh would divide Shechem & mete out Succoth/restore the language to garment His people so that their loins would be made strong, invigorated, and braced (especially during Jacobs trouble) because the whole purpose of Sukkot is for His seed to be germinated or expanded within them! Its in the process of our loins being made strong as well that we become equipped for war the dry bones in Ezekiel 37:10 are described as an exceeding great army. Exodus 13:18 But Elohim led the people about, [through] the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt. Harnessed: Strongs #2571 chamush in battle array, arrayed for battle by fives, armed; from #2570 chomesh belly, abdomen, 5th ribs; in other words, their abdomen/loins were girded as they prepared to accept the seed at Sukkot and the same seed/Word would as well equip/array them for battle! Save: Strongs #3467 yasha to save, be saved, be delivered; the underlying idea of this verb is bringing to a place of safety or broad pastures as opposed to a narrow strait, symbolic of distress and danger (much like the meaning of Egypt/Mistrayim) Gematria = 380, same as lashon tongue! Hear: Strongs #6030 1 )to answer, respond, testify, speak, shout 2) to sing, utter tunefully 3) to dwell *Our ability to come out of Egypt and be brought to the safe place/sukkah hinges upon our understanding of the lashon/tongue of Yahweh, and it is once again emphasized that it is our shout/words/singing that will usher the Groom 7

into our sukkah in order to dwell with us! When you look at these 2 verses in Psalms (60:5-6 & 108:6-7) in the Hebrew, the 1st verse (60:5 & 108:6) has 6 words and 32 letters. The second verse (60:6 & 108:7) has 9 words and 38 letters. 1) The total number of words here is 15 (6 + 9 = 15) there are 15 steps that lead up to the Nicanor Gate in the Temple. It was this gate that 2 very prominent events took place, the woman accused of adultery walked up these 15 steps in order to partake of the bitter waters (a shadow picture of a bride who instead of keeping the sukkah, had chosen to defile it and therefore she would become waste and desolate). The 2nd event was that the Psalms of Ascent (Psalms 120-134). Songs of Ascent Shir Hamaaloth Gematria = 1,061 same value as Genesis 2:7 And breathed into his nostrils the breath of life! Vayipach beapav nishmat chayyim The singing of the Torah (the psalms of ascent leading you into the presence of Yahweh) is the prescribed manner for the tongue to be loosed and the breath of life to be breathed into the dry bones and it the restoration of life to these bones that prepares the way for the Messiah to enter the sukkah! We approach Him either in this manner or as the adulterous woman whose tongue acts as a destroying fire! 2) The total number of letters here is 70 (32 + 38) 70 nations repopulated the earth after the flood and there were 70 original post Babylon languages. There were also 70 persons of the house of Jacob that went down into Egypt originally. Could this be pointing towards those who have been scattered (the 70 in Egypt/the 70 languages broken off) returning to the language of Yahweh in order to dwell with Him? I believe so!
