Piercings and Tattoos: What is it?

Piercings and tattoos are body decorations that go back to ancient times. Body piercing involves making a hole in the skin so that you can insert some jewelry. This is often in the earlobe, but it can be in other parts of the body. Tattoos are designs on the skin made with needles and coloured ink. Permanent makeup is a type of tattoo.

To reduce the risks, make sure that it is done clean, safe and by someone specialized on it. Proper sterilization of the equipment is important. Be sure to follow the instructions on caring for your skin.

Holes from piercing usually close up if you no longer wear the jewellery. It is possible to remove tattoos, but it's painful and can cause scarring.

Those that are anti-piercing seem to assume that every individual with a tongue piercing, every individual with an eyebrow piercing is an eccentric, an outsider, a hooligan, and so on and so on. Yet most of these are stereotyped opinions. The truth is that among those with piercings and tattoos there are good and bad guys, as in any teen group.

A common argument against body art is that "it's ugly". Obviously a person who decides to be pierced, doesn't see piercings as ugly. So that argument is a dead end. Some people think the color brown is beautiful, while others think it is not attractive. Some people like long hair instead of short, and some people like piercings, or tattoos and some don't. Why try to argue what looks nice? Everybody has a different opinion of what is pleasant to look at. I wonder why some people spend ridiculous amounts on name brand clothing and fancy business suits, but I don't criticize it.

Makeup is terrible for your skin, it contains bacteria, and is just as unnatural as a body piercing. Yet I'm sure that all those against body piercings, arent against makeup. While you argue against piercings, I wonder why you put yourself through the suffering of razor from shaving your legs, armpits, or face everyday. While you ask why someone would put themselves through the pain of piercing, I ask why you wear earrings, or high heeled shoes.

Against

There are people crazy about tattoos and piercings . It can be a way to show your individuality, your style and originality. The problem of tattoos and piercings is the fact that they are coming into and going out of fashion very easily and then its not easy to get rid of them. And when removed, I think they can leave skin marks.

In my opinion, to have a body with many tattoos or a lot of piercings is very disgusting. Besides, they can ruin your skin, probably make cancer or a big infection. Remember you can not take out a tattoo from your skin and the people who do piercing dont know that sometimes the holes dont close and become a problem.

Some teens use them to shock adults. In my opinion only with parents permission or after making a wise decision, you can make a tattoo. To shock the others is not a reason to make a tattoo or a piercing or just because your friends have them. I believe piercings are not a useful demonstration against parents and society.

I dont think tattoos are very cool. I think they are ridiculous. I dont think they have style and originality but there are many different opinions about tattoos and piercings. Tattoos and piercings have no influence on me, because I think they can damage my skin. I wouldnt like to have one, because they are silly and unattractive. But I respect those who like them.

I think the people who do tattoos and piercings only do that because they want, the other people think they are bad, strong and rude. Some people paint all of their bodies with tattoos and that is very stupid! Some people do so many piercings that they look like a Swiss cheese. I would probably never do a piercing or a tattoo but I think a little tattoo or one or two piercings may be cool!
