I Killed My Child: Abortion Little hands reach out to you, while a small cry echoes through the empty room. Tears stream down your face as you cry out to your baby, Im so sorry! Forgive me! Suddenly, a shaken mother somewhere in the USA sits up in bed thinking, What have I done?! Abortion is a decision you can never take back and hopefully one you will never make. Thousands of women have gone through emotional trauma and have made a giant hole in their lives because they aborted their worthless baby. Abortion should not be an option for pregnant women. The United States has one of the highest abortion rates in the developed world..., says Lawrence Finer, associate director for domestic research at the Guttmacher Institute. According to the Guttmacher Institute, about 35% of American women have had abortions by age 45. Of these women, 56% of them are having abortions are in their 20s, 67% have never married, and 57% are economically disadvantaged. In 2005 alone, 1.21 million abortions were performed. Abortion is a risk to the emotional and physical condition of the woman who undergoes it. The Placerville Pregnancy Counseling Services says that serious side effects occur in 1 out of every 100 early abortions and 1 in every 50 later abortions. The minor effects include cramping, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and nausea with vomiting, but the serious side effects are quite extensive. A few serious side effects are: tearing or infection

Explanatory 5 in the uterus, heavy bleeding if the uterus is torn, an allergic reaction (if pills are used to abort the baby), or damage to the internal organs from the abortion instruments. (Abortion) Probably one on the most devastating effects is when the woman suffers Post Abortion Syndrome (PAS). PAS is when the woman goes through emotional trauma due to their decision to abort her baby. Women who have aborted their baby often suffer nightmares where theyve heard their baby crying, and become depressed because of what theyve done. Eillen Scipione, a post-abortive counselor for women, shared some of the things the women shes been counseling have been through. Eillen has heard from these women that they feel sorrow, guilt, and anger whenever the subject of abortion is mentioned; they avoid touching, holding, and even seeing babies or children that are around the age their child wouldve been. Many women have also felt bitterness and anger towards those who were involved in their life at that time. (Devine) Aborting a baby is murder and immoral; the methods used to abort a baby are so gruesome that they will not be described here. The babys circulatory system begins to develop at 15-17 days, and at 22 days, the babys heart begins to beat. Babies have brainwaves at 35 days, and can even hear the mothers voice and other sounds 16 weeks after conception. (Devine) A baby can feel pain just 20 weeks after he/she is conceived, and that is when some abortions occur. During these very violent murders, the helpless baby can feel it all as he/she is slowly being killed. After 5 months the baby is fully developed, and has been a growing person for many months before that. (Unborn babies can feel pain) When one of these new babies are aborted, they are being murdered and any good they couldve done, or any accomplishments they couldve made in their life, now will never happen. What gives the mother the right to deprive the child of the great

Explanatory 6 opportunities and joys they wouldve had if they had been allowed to live? There are other, better options to abortion that dont involve taking the childs life. There are many cases of rape and unwanted pregnancies, but those cases still should not require the death of a child. Which option sounds better, 1: an emotionally traumatized, non-mother who is suffering serious side effects and her dead baby, or 2: a mother who is going on with her life and an adopted child who is the joy of another couple. Other options to abortion include: allowing the baby to be adopted or fostered, the mother and her child can be adopted or fostered together, or the mother can go out, get a job, and earn money to support herself, while her baby is being taken care of (Ney). Many married couples that are unable to have children would love to adopt the baby (Devine). Why should other couples be deprived of happiness, or the child deprived life, just because the woman was unwilling to give birth? Abortion is a terrible process that should not be allowed anywhere in the world. Dont you think that the outcomes and costs of abortion make it unsuitable to remain a legal procedure? By offering this option, people are creating opportunities for the death of innocent children and the emotional traumatization of mothers all over the world.
