    Thegovernmenthasconvenedaninterimmultistakeholdersgroup(MSG)tohelppreparefor thecountrysapplicationtotheEITI. SecretaryElizabethGozonconvenestheinterimMSG.

    InterimMSGMembership BantayKitasitsasarepresentativeofthecivilsocietyintheinterimMSG.Currently,members ofBantayKitavolunteeredtositintheinterimMSG.TheseareMr.VinceLazatin(TAN),Mr. JaybeeGarganera(ATM),CieloMagno(BKCoordinator),Prof.TonyLavina(ASOG)andMenSta. Ana(AER). TheChamberofMinescurrentlyrepresentstheindustry. GovernmentisrepresentedbySec.Gozon,MGB,BIRandUnionofLocalAuthoritiesofthe Philippines(ULAP).TheDepartmentofEnergy(DOE)willbeincluded.

    Meetings TheMSGhasmetthreetimesSeptember6,September17&October5.

    WhathavebeendiscussedintheinterimMSGmeetings: DraftworkplanandTOR.TheinterimMSGisworkingonthedraftworkplanforthe implementationofEITIinthePhilippinesandthetermsofreference(TOR)ofthe multistakeholdersgroup(MSG).Thesedocumentswillbesubjectedforgeneralconsultation andapprovaloftheofficialMSG. TherepresentationintheMSG.TheinterimMSGisworkingonequalrepresentationofthe CSOs,industryandthegovernment.Currently,theproposalistohave5representativesfrom eachgroup. ScopeofEITI.TheproposalisfortheinitialimplementationofEITIinthePhilippinestocover the33largescalemetallicminesandtheoilandgasindustry. SelectionofofficialmembersofEITIPHMSG.TheCSOsandtheindustrywillhavean independentprocessofselectingtheofficialrepresentativesintheMSG.BantayKitawill organizeregionaltrainings/consultationsonCSOEITIagendaandtheprocessofselectionofthe representatives.AnationalcongresswillbeorganizedtoelecttheofficialEITIrepresentatives.

    Fortheindustry,theminingcompaniesthatarenotpartoftheChamberofMinesandtheoil andgassectorwillalsoberepresentedintheEITIPHMSG. Calendarofactivities.AccordingtoEO79,wehavetohaveanofficialMSGwithin6months fromtheeffectivityoftheEO.TheinterimMSGisaimingfortheendofNovember.Itmeans thatconsultations,trainingsandconferencesonEITIwillbedoneinthemonthsofOctoberand November. Accesstodocuments/information.Awebsitewillbesetupwherealltheminutesofthe meetings,thedraftdocumentsandthecalendarofactivitieswillbeposted. FormalannouncementofEITIapplication.Therewillbeaformalannouncementregardingthe initiativestoapplyforEITIandtheappointmentofSec.ElizabethGozonasthefocalpersonin conveningtheMSGandimplementingEITIinthePhilippines.
