THE IMPLEMENTATION OF AUTO-VENT TOWARD THE DEVELOPMENT OF ECO-CAMPUS

The earth has been destroyed by the problem that faced by many people in this world, the problem of electricity and the problem of environment have been a new problem since this earth is going to be destroyed by global destruction. The devastation happens because the energy of the earth cannot be sustainable anymore, as what the human beings see now. That is the crisis of electricity and the destruction of green environment or global warming effects. They do such a wasting thing like using a fluorescent lamp for many hours, using neon lamps without switching it off, switch the water valve on without switch it off (the same with wasting water), allowing the garden dry without any plant, creating so many buildings that have high-power draining from the electricity, using air conditioner in daily activity as the best choice. The biggest draining of energy is for the big city such as: New York, Tokyo, London, Jakarta, Bandung, Singapore, Surabaya, and many others. Besides that, the college or campuses especially for the famous campuses are going to drain the same as 5% of big city. Because they have very wide area and consume more for the laboratories, the using of air conditioner in many rooms in wide campus, for computerbased technology campus, it will be more wasting and draining than standard campus because it consume more energy from many computers, laptops, equipment that it does. So that many people trigger many brilliant ideas which make the massive consuming of energy and polluting our environment decreased. One of them is changing the air conditioner system which makes the much draining of energy. Not only draining much energy but also devastates our earth shield (ozone) from the ultraviolet ray because of the air conditioner gas which contains O3 or Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) is produced more than the limit. And the producer of these is air conditioner. So, those are the consideration of producing a new idea that makes eco-building and friendly-environment campus. The name is eco-campus.

Eco-campus is the campus which has standardized the building they choose. They must design, construct, and propose a new building based on the eco-campus buildings which the standard of the buildings has been stated before from the developers of ecocampus. The requirement of eco-campus is not easy enough for the campus to make the status of it is eco-campus which is justified by the state government. Creating a good and green environment, a very high technology, saving much energy, and reducing pollution are the criteria of eco-campus. Actually, many campuses have been eco-campus, such as: Ottawa Eco-Campus and Arkansas State University. They believe this eco-campus predicate can be pretended by developing and implementing brilliant research. 2 of them believe also one of the technology that fully complete the eco-campus standard is the autovent. Moreover, it will be a very good technology. No doubt that they will research and know more about auto-vent. Auto-vent is the solution; this will be as the trend and technology which can decrease significantly the use of energy especially for the electricity. Kyoto University has developed this technology by applying this technology in some building which made from wood, wall, and glass. This technology would be as the trusted research from many universities in this world. Simple and convenient is the word that very appropriate to imagine about auto-vent system. The auto-vent is the automated ventilation which made of some automatic windows that able to open and close by the controller, the people in a room will be cool and fresh by the air from outside the room. The controller of the autovent is located on the wall of the room. It can be very safe because of the smoke sensor and handle of the window. If there is a fire inside the room, there will be any alert from the sensor which also automatically open the window for releasing the smoke. The safe handles of the auto-vent are very long-lasing handles, because they are made from the aluminum so that there will be no corrosion again in them. It is the most effective way to substitute the air conditioner technology which consumes huge electricity energy. Because the source of energy come from the battery located on the shelf containing the battery and the charger of it. It also has a sensor which can protect the students from the rain and the shiny sun ray. So, it will be complete features for the ventilation, because it can refresh and comfort the students but also protecting from the extreme weather especially for rain and drought of the sun. It is not only for the energy saving purpose but also for the aesthetic and picturesque project. The automated ventilation can be a rooftop of the room, besides

that, the category and variation of the automated ventilation design make it unusual window or ventilation. The government must consider how to change the air conditioner instead of auto-vent based on the advantages. The future implementation of auto-vent has been tested by many sources. Such as: Kyoto university, Canada Eco-Campus, Arkansas State University, and many others. They have already felt the beneficial of them. Firstly, from the energy savings, actually the universities in Indonesia also have very good competition and progression for technology point of view. They have wide campus, many facilities such as: 3 floors of computer laboratory, 3 floors of science laboratory, LCD Projector in each class, 2 air conditioners in each class, and many others. If we calculate the amount of the electricity that they use, it will be very huge amount of energy. The source of PLN said that if 1 campus with 2 air conditioners in each room which used for 150 hours per month calculated from 50.000.000 rupiahs. Imagine if for 1 year using, estimated value is 6.000.000.000 rupiahs. After looking for the price, its very expensive and costs much than the government thinks. Besides that, the amount of ozone releases from the air conditioner is not having far amount from the price. If 1 campus with 2 air conditioners in each room which used for 150 hours per month at least release more gases than the 50 aerosol gas release every day. It means that the air conditioner waste more energy and CFC. Compare with the auto-vent, if we calculate the sensor electricity, it will be very small amount. 4.000.000 per month and 48.000.000 per year, this is less than the air conditioner using. It is very small because of the long-lasting battery. The battery can support more than 6 hours using, and the charging time is about 8 hours. The picturesque and artistic look from the automated ventilation has been a consideration of the expert to make the campus save much energy and make the look and scenery of campus buildings become comfortable and look very beautiful in eyes. The variations of it are very interesting, such as: future Auto-Vent, green smooth window, classic Auto-Vent theme, and much more variations. It makes the vent become multi-purposes. After seeing the brilliant features of the auto-vent, the campus which want to be greener, must be convinced by this technology. The influence from the auto-vent is also having a great influence for many side of view. Besides from the advantages of it, it also makes the urgent point toward the other side of view. Firstly, from the economy side of view, the urgent point in the economy

sustainability of campus is because of the savings. At the moment, the auto-vent will not bring any big impact or influential effect toward it. Even it didnt bring influential effects in short-time, actually it has great influence if we use at the long time. Because the technology has been designed as long-lasting technology, it will make any significant change toward the economy of the campus. Long-lasting effect means that, the decreasing of the energy cost of using the air conditioner will not decrease in one month or several months, but it will decrease at least from one year or several years. If we calculate the expected earnings before using the auto vent, it will be very expensive. For example: the campus outcome per year is 50 billion per year, and it is not included the air conditioner use. As this essay has stated before, the cost of 1 one campus with 2 air conditioners in each room which used for 150 hours per month is 50.000.000 rupiahs or 50 million, if for one year using, estimated value is 6.000.000.000 rupiahs or 6 billion. So the outcome of all is 60 billion. So, it means the air conditioner contribute at least 8% of outcome in the economy of campus. The auto-vent no doubt again has been a solution of this problem as this essay stated before, and this make the auto-vent as prominent factor from the economy side of view. Moreover, from the environment side of view, the auto-vent brings the vital part on protecting the environment from the devastation of global warming. The students will say about why we must use this auto-vent for the environment. This is the urgency point, because right now the air conditioner using is being trend right now. Without consider the other factor, if the people want to build a room and they want the room is cool, they will use the air conditioner. It just like simple thinking, but complicated if we relate it to the environment. We have already known the air conditioner release so many CFC in just short time. The expert still wonder why they dont think about that. And the fact said that the CFC gas could not be expel and disappear until 50 years-100 years, and the expert responds that why the people still use air conditioner if the CFC cannot reuse well. So, the question is the people will do the same. The people that have keen eyes to the environment will not do the same. They will use anything to recover all the devastation that the earth suffering, such as: use the auto-vent. Again and again it is the solution because it has already convinced many campuses in this world actually to use this technology. The upper page already explained why we should use the auto-vent instead of the air conditioner. Thats about the environment point of view.

Based on those statements and facts, actually the auto-vents must be justifiable for substituting the air conditioner because of the advantages, the influential, and the future implementation to the eco-campus. And you also agree if the auto-vent in the future will replace step by step from air conditioner to auto-vent. Known that the criteria of ecocampus are to save the environment, including: saving much energy, reducing pollution, and making green environment. Known also that auto-vent main goal is to substitute the air-conditioner function, if the people think it more, the function of it and the criteria is the same. Obviously, both of them will support each other. Eco-campus is the place or provider and auto-vent is the facilities or the equipment, if the auto-vent develops, the ecocampus will develop too. Those mean actually they can be a very excellent resolution toward our earth. Saving, pretending, and fighting against the global crisis and warming are the best way for us to save our earth and campus condition. By using this auto-vent, the human hopes we can decrease our earth and environment suffering from pain which created by the rubbish hand of human beings. From small thing, we can save our earth and our lovely earth, because it can be the biggest later. By using auto-vent, get better ecocampus, better environment, and better earth.
