The eighth habit is to "Find your voice and inspire others to find their voice". In order to express your voice more decisively and distinctively, you need to work at building your capacities in each of these four dimensions:

VISION
Being able to see a future statein your minds eye. It is simply applied imagination, as most things are created mentally before being brought into physical reality. Ex: The Secret

DISCIPLINE
Discipline is needed to actually make things happen. To be disciplined means to accept reality, become totally immersed in the facts and then move forward from there.

PASSION
The unrelenting drive which comes from the heart. People with passion are motivational to be with because they believe the best way to predict the future is to take part in shaping it. Ex: Where your heart lies.

CONSCIENCE
Your moral sense of whats right and whats wrong. Every religion and every culture of the world has an accepted set of values. Ex: honesty, respect and contribution.

INSPIRE OTHERS TO FIND THEIR VOICE

WHAT DO SUCCESSFUL LEADERS DO?

SET DIRECTION DEMONSTRATE PERSONAL CHARACTER MOBILIZE INDIVIDUAL COMMITMENT ENGENDER D ORGANISATIONAL CAPABILITY

12

For an Organization to express its voice,

its leaders must fulfill these roles:

1.

To model both in character and competence. The personal character plays a vital role in trust upon someone.

MODELING:- Have faith and trust upon each other.

2. Path finding: - The organisation must jointly develop

a viable strategy which will allow it to move from where it is now to where it wants to be in the future.

13

3. Aligning

: The organisation has to put in place structures, processes and systems which will keep everyone on course. Aligning produces a form of institutionalised moral authority to act.

4. Empowering : Focusing the organisati ons tal ent on the

results needed rather than the methods used. Empowering is all about execution. In an empowered organisation, leaders give help and direction only when requested.

14

Focus embodies both the modeling and path finding roles in helping organizations find their voice and achieve greatness.
