The Truth About Obama and Israel

These thoughts about why I think Romney should win the elections were written t o my American wonderful relatives few weeks ago, way before Romney`s sweeping vi ctory today over Obama in the first debate. I truly hope that this will constitu te a new beginning that ultimately will lead to Romney`s victory over Obama. Eve n though I wrote as an Israeli and from an Israeli point of view to more or less a captive audience of Jewish relatives in the U.S who , like most American Jewr y , voted, voting and will vote Democrats, I truly think that this time it is no t less then urgent need for Israel and the world as a whole, to see Mitt Romney as the new president.I also think that it is an american interest to see Romney as president, as well. It is time for America to regain its prestige and import ant roll as the only super power and the leading democracy of the world. Hi all, Thank you for the NY Times article on Obama written by Haim Saban. I will try to give you an answer as to why I think, at this point in time, it is Romney who has to be elected, not Obama. I fully understand the Democratic human rights approach of those who preach cons istently to vote for the Democratic party in America, which, supposedly, stands f or human rights - abortion, health care for the poor, gay rights, etc. Concerni ng those important issues, I consider myself, like most of you, as a Democrat. However, when it comes to Israel, I put away all these issues and look at the si tuation in the narrow spectrum of the interests of my own country - Israel. Let's try to set the record straight: Obama helps Israel militarily. Obama gave us funding for the Iron Dome. Obama will hold the biggest military joint exercise with Israel in October (mind you, a month before the elections, which I must say is legitimate.) Obama supported us against the attempt by the Palestinians to declare an independent state, and for that, I wrote Mike that I really appreciate that move which was needed for u s as a country. Having said all that, unfortunately, the broader picture is much darker and not promising, and dare I say - dangerous. Mr. Saban, in his article, mentioned li ghtly, that yes, Obama SHOULD have come to Israel during his first four years an d in the same breath mentioned that Pres. Bush came only after 7 years in office , thus legitimizing Obama's postponement (hopefully) of such a visit. The facts are true but he neglected to reiterate one major difference. While President B ush did not visit Israel for 7 years, he also did not visit after a month in off ice, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, as Pres. Obama did. I am not a child and I am not getting insulted that Big Daddy saw someone else and didn't come to me. It is too heavy of an issue to be a child about. Pres. Obama's visit to the Arab worl d as his first trip in office and neglecting to visit Israel was neither a mista ke nor an oversight. It was his intention, so it seems, to tell the Moslem/Arab world that America is no longer one-sided... that America is no longer an autom atic supporter of Israel...that .America respects the Arab/Moslem world... Ameri ca recognizes the fact that the Arab world comprises over a billion and a half p eople on earth and that America, in a way, apologizes that thus far, it did not recognize the actual magnitude and influence of the Moslem/Arab world. So....you might ask yourselves what's wrong with that? After all, America needs to have better ties with any part of the world where it's possible. I will tel l you what's wrong with that in my humble opinion, as not just an Israeli but as someone who also believes he sees the broader picture. I believe I gained some insight into the Arab/Moslem mentality and outlook through my upbringing by par ents who immigrated from Iraq, from reading and actually both speaking and under standing the Arab language, listening to Arabic broadcasts, and also visiting Eg ypt, Jordan and Morocco.

The Obama visit to the Islamic centers of Saudi Arabia and Egypt, while conceive d in American eyes as an attempt to get closer to the Moslem/Arab world, is, unf ortunately, being conceived in the same Arab/Moslem world, NOT just as a sign to appease them, but as a sign of weakness....sorry to say. In the Islamic/Arab culture, an attempt at appeasement is interpreted as weaknes s. As a result, because of this perceived weakness of the West, they no longer feel bound by the usual diplomatic codes of behavior. Now it is time, they feel , to move ahead with their real plans.. So what am I actually saying here? W hat does this mean in reality? In Hebrew there is a saying that says that some times you might see the shadow of a mountain and consider it a mountain - namel y that you are afraid for no reason. I only wish this were the case. And if it IS the case, I humbly apologize. Let''s get the facts straight. Since Obama became President, the so-called Ara b Spring started. Let's check what the results are of this so-called Arab Spring ? Enhancement of the radical power in Yemen?! Libya's extremists moving very sophisticated missiles and weaponry to Hamas in Gaza?! Syria giving the most so phisticated weaponry and missiles to Hezbollah in Lebanon, threatening all of Is rael and this time it's for real (tens of thousands of missiles are aimed at eve ry location in Israel and in the future might cause big damage to both people an d property.)!? Egypt maybe?? While America helped the overthrow of Mubarak to enhance the so-ca lled democratic process in the Arab world, it seems obvious who was actually ele cted there and obvious that the true agenda is yet to be seen. That true agen da is radical Islam. For now, their interest is to keep it "low," and get a "wa iver" of debts from the US (the US just waived a billion dollars from their debt the other day.) But rest assured, in the future, you will see the Genie c oming out of the bottle. A similar Genie came out of the bottle with the big h elp and support of a peanut grower from Plains, Georgia who helped overthrow the Shah of Iran, literally bringing in the the ayatollahs in the name of democracy and the will of the people. His name was Jimmy Carter and if I recall, to the best of my knowledge, he wasn't a Republican!!! Democratic thoughts are nice - their values are nice - equality, share and share alike, the fortunate helping the poor, love and peace between nations and obvio usly may the majority win (like in Iran, Egypt, Libya, etc.). But even the Demo crats' interests are not always strictly kosher. Why would President Obama cre ate a coalition of Europeans and Americans to fight against Qaddafi in Libya, th us causing the brutal assassination of a leader who, yes, was a dictator, but at least not any threat militarily to any country in the region. Why?? Not becau se the sky is very high, but because the oil is deep in the ground and America w ants to get a hold of it. Why did America decide that they should help Bahrain to overthrow the attempt of the Arab Spring in their own country and keep their own ruler in power? Because there is oil in Bahrain and the majority is Shiite and the interest of America is that the Sunni minority and Sunni king will stay in power so that the oil will keep flowing to good ole USA. What can we do when poor Syria does not have oil in its territory? Until now, t he fact that there is no oil in Syria caused the brutal massacre of over 25,000 innocent men, women and children and keeps on going. Where is President Obama w hen a REAL massacre is taking place and REAL people want to have an Arab Spring against a brutal assassin, Bashar El-Assad of Syria?? Obama is not there becaus e the oil is not there. If and when he decides to get involved, it will be only after the death of tens if not hundreds of thousands of innocent people. Iran: - yes, President Obama is doing a fantastic job - really - by trying to co unter the Iranian attempt to create a nuclear bomb: sanctions, financial boycot ts, etc., which are really good. However, did this policy stop the Iranians fro m running like crazy after their goal, which is a nuclear bomb!? Sorry, no. I n reality it has just enhanced their efforts to do it. Put your right hand on your heart and try to answer objectively, the following question: do you think that a really determined President would have allowed the Iranians to come to a "point of no return" in their quest for making a nuclear bomb? I don't think so

. I think that even a fanatic leader in Iran who sees the possibility of a thre at to his country by a superpower would have at least postponed or slowed down t he process. During the era of Pres. Obama, nobody is really afraid to take acti ons that, in the past, they might have thought twice about. America, in my opin ion, is being conceived as weak - not as a country that wants to reach out and show friendship and thus create a better world, but as weak!!! And when America , the only superpower left, is weak, we, the Moselem / Arab world, are seizing t he opportunity to get stronger and to prepare ourselves for what we see as our f inal goal - which is a Moslem world. Yes, my friends from the plains of Geo rgia and the snow of Ohio and the skyscrapers of New York, what is this guy talk ing about? We are the mightiest power in the world and we don't have to show i t all the time because everyone knows that. WELL, that's not the case. In my o pinion, Pres. Obama was almost the sole contributor to the unfortunate fact that the Moslem/Arab world has regained its aspiration to actually annihilate the st ate of Israel - not just win a battle or a war, but actually now believing that it is possible to wipe Israel off the face of the map. Sorry, my friends, your President means well, I have no doubt. But this is what he caused. To summarize what I have said, let's see what has been happening with my country during Obama's era. The nuclear threat from Iran has become an ACTUAL threat t o our existence. The chemical weapons of Syria could be transferred to the hand s of Jihadists or Hezbollah and that means that the next war will be a totally d ifferent story. While Israel, since the 1976 peace treaty with Egypt, has not ha d to place a lot of troops on the southern border with Egypt, these days, becaus e of the Arab Spring, we, in Israel, are slowly but surely entering a military " winter" in that area - increasing our presence there because Islamic Jihad is no w in Sinai, rockets are being launched at Eilat from Sinai, and attacks from Isl amic Jihadists just happened a month ago. All of this happened even before Egyp t had to show it's truly Islamic face, which will surely be shown in the future and will cause us even further manpower and money to protect our southern border . Hamas in Gaza - with the kind help of the European/American coalition that overt hrew Kaddaffi of Libya, Hamas is now equipped with the most sophisticated weapon ry and missiles that endangers Israel from the South. Hezbollah in the North - they are now equipped with sophisticated missiles - ten s of thousands that can cause real death and damage all over Israel, and not jus t in the north as before. Turkey is not exactly our friend anymore, nor did America manage to convince the m to stay so. Syria - sooner or later we will have to encounter the results of the Syrian upr ising. I foresee real chaos due to the lack of involvement of the Americans try ing to pull strings to make the transition of power somewhat "normal", if I can use that word in the area where I live. My friends...Pres. Obama is a nice guy - probably very nice, but I cannot and wi ll not base my vote on "niceties". As I said before, I deeply appreciate millio ns of dollars being given for our defense system, the Iron Dome, but I would rat her not have to create the Iron Dome in the first place, had America stopped th e flow of missiles to Hamas and Hezbollah on time. I appreciate the military ex ercise with American soldiers this coming October, but when the day comes, I kn ow, most probably, that if an action has to be taken to secure the safety of Isr ael, we can only trust ourselves, and anything else that comes along is just a b onus. My friends, the world is going mad - look around you and try to see the depth of it. In an era where the world is going mad, be aware that the plains of Georgi a, the snow of Ohio and the highrises of New York are merely a bubble that can e

asily explode at any given time. You might think this is a ridiculous statemen t because you're there and everything is rosy and merry, but believe me that is not the case. The world, not just America, is in need of a leader, for someone who is able to show that yes, America CAN be powerful, America CAN and WILL inte rvene against those who threaten the peace of the world.. At this point in time, America needs a strong president. At this point in time and ONLY at this point in time, it's irrelevant whether he supports abortion or not, whether he suppor ts medicare or not, and whether he supports gay marriage or not. For that, like the song says, "there is a time for every purpose under heaven." Now is the ti me, my friends, to protect the fragile world from the hands of the crazy ones. When this is done, I will join you in the march for abortion, gay marriage, heal th care, and whatever else. Thank you. Amnon
