With the optional 40GB Hard Disk HD-505 installed, the bizhub 420 becomes a warehouse for important data. Files can be placed in up to 1,000 password-protected Boxes divided by project, workgroup, user, etc.

Scan to FTP
FTP servers make distributing large files easy, and the bizhub 420 streamlines the entire process. Documents can be scanned to a designated directory where users may access and download them when needed.

Universal Send
Universal Send eliminates redundancy and saves time by sending data to both fax and e-mail destinations in a single operation. A copy of the scan data is also saved to a box in the HDD for future use.

Scan to E-mail
Send scan data directly from the control panel to any e-mail address in the world. Files are sent as attachments in either PDF or TIFF format.

Scan to SMB
Scan to SMB lets you forward scan data directly to a sharing folder on a network PC. Even without a central server, this is a fast way to share documents within your office.

With the optional HDD installed, received fax data can be saved to a designated Box based on its TSI information. This makes easy work of organizing faxes by individuals or groups. Once saved to a Box, fax messages can be printed out or forwarded to other destinations.

PageScope Job Spooler puts you in control of your offices workflow. Allowing you to manage network print jobs by changing their order, viewing their status and canceling them to free up the bizhub 420 for more important jobs.

PageScope Workware* (option)

By simply dragging and dropping thumbnails of data stored in Boxes, PageScope Workware lets you convert documents to PDF format. Even files from different source applications can be grouped into one PDF file. And image correction features such as brightness and density adjustment and re-orientation of lopsided scans are also straightforward.

User Authentication
For increased security, customized access privileges can be set for each user, granting or limiting access to particular functions (copy / scan / print), or setting page input and output limits for each user. Access can also be limited to only particular servers, which can be selected to suit office needs.

To ensure that no data is removed from your discarded bizhub 420, the hard drive can be completely overwritten with 0s before disposal.

With the optional Security Kit SC-502, scan and print data can be stored on the hard drive in a unique compression format that makes eavesdropping very difficult for unauthorized users. Even if data is maliciously extracted, it is highly unlikely that the content can be deciphered.

ISO 15408 EAL3 Certification

The bizhub 420 is undergoing certification for compliance with level 3 (EAL3) of ISO15408, a strict set of international standards used to test a devices level of IT security.

Copying Prohibited

The HDD can be assigned a password, preventing unauthorized users from accessing HDD data. This protects the data from being viewed or altered, even if the HDD is removed from the main unit.

RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) prohibits certain harmful substances from being used during the production of electrical and electronic components.
