Dear TRINET Community, The School of Tourism & Hospitality Management (STHM) at Temple University invites applications to the PhD program for fall semester 2013 admission. STHMs mission is to advance knowledge in tourism, sport, recreation, and hospitality through the cultivation of high level research. Funding is available over 12 months for service of 20 hours per week as research and teaching assistants. Each student receives tuition remission, health benefits and a stipend of $22K. In addition to the first rate academic program, the campuss urban location, just north of Center City Philadelphia, provides access to numerous cultural and recreational opportunities. In conjunction with the Fox School of Business, the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management offers a PhD in Business Administration with a concentration in Tourism & Sport Management. The School has a strong focus on research with 22 dedicated faculty members. This doctoral program builds upon the strength of both schools and provides an ideal environment to receive academic and research training for a successful career. The PhD program at Temple provides students a platform with which to advance their research and teaching skills. STHM houses the Sport Industry Research Center (SIRC) and the National Laboratory for Tourism & eCommerce (NLTeC), which complement doctoral students academic studies with applied research training. Opportunities are provided to work as research assistants on existing research projects with faculty and industry professionals. In addition, PhD students gain valuable classroom training serving as lecturers and teaching assistants in the undergraduate program. All PhD students must teach a minimum of two semesters and serve as a research assistant for a minimum of two years. Research Strengths STHM has a strong research tradition and specializes in the following content areas related to tourism, sport, hospitality and recreation. Prospective students with interest in applying a business context to any of the following research topics are encouraged to apply.
