Medical Policy of PTCL

PTCL medical policy for its workers and employees: PTCL employees have free medical treatment. In all over Pakistan there are 38 dispensaries which are working and providing free treatments to PTCL employees. This benefit is also for the family members of the PTCL employees. After retirement too PTCL provide the medical benefits to its former employees. Employees from grade 1 to 16 are entitled for medical facility up to five years of the retirement. Employees in grade 17 and above have lifetime entitlement for the facility.

Recommendations
The Health and Counselling Centre should be established for medical care to employees of PTCL. A work-related injury may be seen for an initial evaluation for further care as medically necessary. The Health and Counselling Centre should provide mental health services to employees. Employees should have access to the health education materials available at the Health and Counselling Centre. At certain times, the Health and Counselling Centre may provide screening, vaccination or other limited services to employees. The Centre provides no fee counselling services to faculty and staff.

Orientation Policy

All new employees of PTCL will read and review PTCLs Health and Safety Policy with the Safety Coordinator. After completion the worker will sign the sheet at the end of the policy acknowledging acceptance and understanding of his/her obligations and responsibilities. The Site Supervisor will complete the New Worker Orientation Checklist with the employee before they start working at the site. The completed checklist will be submitted to the Safety Coordinator to be kept on file at the head office. The Site Supervisor will complete the Supervisor Site Orientation Checklist before job start up. Upon completion the copy will remain on site and the Supervisor shall review the checklist items with all PTCL employees. Subcontractor orientation will require the completion of a Pre-Job Safety Analysis (PSA) for each trade prior to the start of work. PTCLs Supervisor will review and accept or modify the proposed PSA as required. The Subcontractor Supervisor will then review the contents with their workers, with a copy of the final PSA signed off and kept on site. At least once per year, each Supervisor will review the orientation policy and procedures with the Safety Coordinator. Employing Unit Responsibilities Provide new employees with an orientation specific to their workplace. Provide on-the-job training needed for new employees to assume their responsibilities. Provide new employees with timely and relevant benefit information.

New Employee Responsibilities Participate in appropriate orientation processes. Seek information to enhance his or her orientation process. Complete and return appropriate personnel forms.

Office of Human Resources Responsibilities Offer regularly scheduled sessions for new employee orientation. Provide information and resources about PTCL policies. Provide the PTCL, departments, and units with strategies, resources and tools for development of their workplace orientation process.

Recommendations
Although PTCL orientation process fully functionalised and working in a good way but there is no specific orientation programme for its employees in case of employment relationship terminated. Also some other matters are to be discussed for orientation process of PTCL. So according to my suggestions PTCL should follow these points: If the employee terminates the employment relationship, the employee shall provide and fulfil the proper notice associated with the position they occupy. Generally two weeks is required for non-exempt (hourly) staff and four weeks is required for exempt (salaried) staff.
