Andrew Holter, Head of Department, said: Christies was honored to have been entrusted by the Philadelphia Museum of Art with the sale of their Garvan carved Chippendale mahogany easy chair, which achieved $1.16 million the third highest price for the form. In addition, we were proud to, once again, represent the Wunsch Americana Foundation, which included the sale of a superb Chippendale mahogany tassel-back side chair, which realized $218,500, soaring well-above its estimate. We look forward to our Americana Week sales in January 2013.
