Call for sessions


Dear colleagues, Following the model established in the previous JIA, sessions will be organized in round table format.

Structure of round tables


The sessions will be round tables. The total length of the round table will be 2 hours, structured as follows: Presentation of the round table by the coordinator/s of the session (5 minutes maximum) Presentation of the papers (10 minutes maximum, everyone) Debate (about 1 h.), which will be prepared and dynamized by the coordinator/s of the session.

Submission of round table sessions


These are the requirements to make a submission: 1) Title of your proposal and a detailed exposition (up to 1000 words) about the objectives of the session, as well as its scientific interest. 2) Personal data (name, electronic address, telephone and institution) of the coordinator/s of the session. 3) If possible, a list of possible authors interested in presenting a communication in the session. 4) Please submit your proposal and the other information, in a .pdf document, via email to secretariajia2013@gmail.com by 10th November 2012.

From the organization of the JIA 2013, by way of guidance, we would like to suggest you some topics to debate in the round table sessions: Concept of crisis, transformation and change. Theoretical and methodological challenges.

Crisis of archaeological theory? New channels and approaches. Situations of change, transformation and crisis in the past. Archaeology in turbulent times: an opportunity to innovate? Archaeology 2.0: redefining the role of new technologies. The crisis of the paper and the socialmedia in archaeology: a second life? New spaces of dialogue for the dissemination of archaeological heritage. Research multidisciplinary: United we stand Crisis of the traditional studies? The rise of peripheral archaeologies (contemporary wars, industrial activities, homeless, etc.). Crisis of professional ethics: job, research and heritage in danger.
