I am an advocate belonging to Nagpur, a social and rights activist and supreme panchayat member of Gurmat Mission (CF) Trust. I am well educated having four post graduate degrees. I and my mission members and community have been deeply pained to watch/ learn about the contents of OFFICIAL TRAILOR of forthcoming movie SON OF SARDAR which is Blasphemous, Defamatory, Infurious, Objectionable, Injurious, Malicious, Insulting, demeaning. The movie is being produced by Ajay devgn, (devgan) Viacom 18 motion picture, ADF Ajay Devgn films, YRV Infra and Media (P)Ltd, directed by Mr Aswin Dheer due for release in November 2012 precisely on Diwali as per news. The main lead as a Sardar has also been enacted/played by Mr Ajay Devgn. The Grievances, Contentions and objections :
1. That the official trailer of the said movie was released on air/internet on You

Tube somewhere in end of July and as reported by Website Glamsham.com it

has had 14 lakh hits within 5 days, this is being mentioned to convey the magnitude of the viewing and spreading of injurious material sending wrongful signal in society and amongst Sikh youth.
2. That the Official Trailer is of about 2 minutes twenty seconds only and

contains the following inflammatory and injurious contents against Sikh Religion and Community, What about the other objectionable contents in whole movie of about normally three hours is unknown:

The objectionable contents : DIALOGUES: a) Kabhi Kabhi mere dil me khayal ata hai agar duniya me sardar na hote to kya hota sorry yaar duniya bekar followed by Kudia to hoti par Punjabane na hoti duniya ke mundo ki aatma soni kudio ko roti -------- na hote, ranjhe na hote to kaun karta kudio ko pyar (Which indicates that the punjabi girls are only meant for romance and flirting) b) Jo Sardar na hote to joke kispe bante kaun lata sukhe chere par hasi (Which indicates that the sardar are jokers) c) haramzada (which means a Bastard, ill begotten child) jisme pyar hai zyada, Teri Pehan di teri maa di ye duniya ko hame sikhaye is kolaveri di ki baari to bad me aayi gaalio ke nina yaar kaise dikhate pyaar sorry yaar duniya bekar bina son of sardar( which indicates that the sardars are the innovators/developers of ABUSES (Our generations are once being again fed with this what deplorable Sikhs have projection/message, forgetting

contributed for the country also forgetting that the Prime Minister is also a Sikh )d) sardar par joke to karma par joker na samajhna koi sardar ki dastar pe haath uthyega to sardar use utha dega (One is free to joke on sardar, also sardars are irrational and very bad tempered)

VISUAL:That Ajay Devgn(Devgan) is shown as sardar wearing a turban with a tattoo of Hindu God Shivjee on his shoulder. It is very well known that Sikhs have been forbidden to worship Idols, images or Deities by the Gurus as also the code of conduct the Rehat Maryada also clearly prohibits. This depiction is also offensive, hurting religious sentiments, being against the Sikh principles.

VISUAL:That briefly for a second Image of Gurunanak Devjee is also shown on an embossed like metallic circular coin like thing, which is again objectionable and against tenets of Sikhism.

VISUAL:That the lead hero as a Sardar wearing a turban is shown in trimmed beard which is HIGHLY OBJECTIONABLE as even a small child knows that Sikhs maintain UNSHORN HAIRS. The five Ks are the symbols of Sikhism Kanga(Small comb) Kara (Iron bangle) kesh(Unshorn hairs)Katcha (Underwear) and kirpan(a dagger). That in Sikhism trimming is one of the four cardinal sin whereby the baptism (Amrit) is lost and one has to get baptized (Amrit) again.

3. That other content of the complete film/movie are Un known which could also

be objectionable and demeaning and could cause further injuries and may lead to disturbance of peace of the public order and society. It is well understood that INSULT is always HURTING directly causes INJURY.
4. That Most Humbly I on behalf of mission members and community have to

request you to kindly take immediate action to hold the CERTIFICATION of the film, also get the NECESSARY CUTS which are objectionable and injurious screening the entire movie, so that there remains no offensive material which could lead to disturbance of law and order and of peace and tranquility of society.
5. That the contents of trailer are against the guidelines laid down for Certifying a

movie by the CENSOR BOARD and are highly objectionable. The worst part is that the Official Trailer is still as on date on Air/Internet NOT WITHDRAWN which evidently endorses that there are no intentions to correction and Healing the sentiments of Sikhs as declared.
6. That it is also requested that the promo official trailer of the said movie, also

should be made to be withdrawn from air/internet forthwith, as the same is in Malicious, intentional, furious, livid and injurious. 7. That Censor Board is a watch dog an authority in line to control the abuse of article 19 of constitution article 19(2) reproduced: Article 19(2) in The Constitution Of India 1949

(2) Nothing in sub clause (a) of clause ( 1 )(Freedom of speech and expression) shall affect the operation of any existing law, or prevent the State from making any law, in so far as such law imposes reasonable restrictions on the exercise of the right conferred by the said sub clause in the interests of the sovereignty and integrity of India, the security of the State, friendly relations with foreign States, public order, decency or morality or in relation to contempt of court, defamation or incitement to an offence
8. That as an educated, responsible and law abiding citizen as duty bound to the

peace and tranquility of society I have brought to your notice the objectionable, dangerous nature of the contents of the official trailer of forthcoming movie son of sardar and we expect that the Censor Board shall act tough and redress the grievances mentioned herein above which is the authority and responsibility of the Censor Board..
9. That it shall not be out of place to mention that as a coincidence today it is a

Historical day 12.9 on this day 12.9.1897 21 the sikhs of sikh regiment preferred dying fighting for the motherland under British India against a heavy contingent of 10000 plus army and all the 21 attained martyrdom, popularly known as the battle of Sargarhi.(Article on Battle of Sargarhi enclosed) such is the strong character and history of the Sikhs and showing them in bad light is deeply hurting and injurious.
10. That I shall also like to add that Mr Ajay Devgn is a Punjabi, his family

belonging to Amritsar, also being in film line from many years from about 1991, recipient of best male actor national award, He started directing and established film production house too from about 2008 as per internet news and also being well educated how he could commit such colossal blunder causing pain, hurt and injury to sentiments of the Sikhs. Also he has stated that he has taken advice of knowledgeable person than how is all this blasphemy possible which appears to be willful neglect and disobedience of the norms and guidelines. He has also stated that for tying proper turban he flew an expert some 20 times to Mumbai, then how he lapsed to not even consult a learned reputed religious expert. If I am not wrong earlier the Mumbai Gurudwara authorities had offered to give free advice in case of a movie having subject as Sikh/ sardar.

5 11. That

through this petition I shall also humbly request you, that in case a

subject has to be shown as a sikh/sardar in the Bollywood/hindi/ any other movie coming under your purview. Proper religious guidelines as to the sikh religion should be followed to avoid unnecessary controversies, litigation, annoyance and disturbance of peace and sentiments. Also that if a sikh has to be depicted he/she should be shown in UNSHORN HAIRS and good light and in consultation with learned religious reputed expert person. This should be the norm for all the different religious communities/ minorities and not only Sikhs.
12. That I shall like to place before you a recent incident of 20.8.2012 an example

of the Universal brotherhood and religious tolerance where the Sikh community and Committee of the Joshimath gurdwara invited 800 plus Muslim Brethren to observe their Ramzan Idd Namaz in the Gurdwara hall as the Gandhi maidan where they hold the namaz every year in Ramzan was very slushy due to heavy rains, as there being no mosque or iddgah in joshimath. This gesture was greatly appreciated and acknowledged by the muslim maulvi Asif of Joashimath.(link for the complete news: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/In-bad-weather-Sikhs-Muslims-andHindus-make-good-friends/articleshow/15600144.cms?) 13.That through this Petition it is also pointed out and brought to the notice of the Censor Board the painful deteriorating standards of Hindi/Bollywood films Industry. That for commercial Gain making fun or showing a minority community in bad light is a sin and deplorable act which has to be prohibited by the authority vested in your organization and also becomes obligatory to safeguard interest and unity of the country.
14. That too showing a community in poor light who have contributed enormously

for the humanity and country and it is evident from the history. If only Mr Ajay Devgn would have known. Also the community in minority too.
15. That it is the least intention to cause any trouble or harassment to any person

.Complacency and digestion of wrongful poor act depicted in past movies with subject as sikh/sardar has now created such a situation where a reasonable and justified restriction has to be imposed in public interest. Sikhs have no objection in showing Sikhs/sardar as subjects in movies but it should be in

good light, proper shape and under guidance from a learned, reputed, religious personof the community acceptable to sikh masses.
16. That in view of the violation of the Censor Board Film Certification Guidelines

as also article 19(2) of Indian Constitution kindly stay the grant of Censor Board Certification to the said movie Son of Sardar as being the authority specially constituted in public interest and in interest of justice. Also in case the Certification is granted it should be reviewed keeping in mind the objections and violations of the guidelines of the Censor Board and the grievances pointed out herein, be kindly redressed.
