This week, were working on h ow to discuss books with reading partners. Were practicing re- telling stories by leaping forward in large chunks from the beginning of a story. Were also practicing re-telling by starting now and filling in information from earlier in the story. Ask your child to give you examples of these storytelling methods!

Were working on developing strong leads (opening sentences) to our stories and creating first drafts of our personal narrative stories. This week students will be reading their books as writers, looking for examples of good leads in their favorite b ooks. You can support your child by showing examples of good leads you find in your own books!
