17, 2012 Hello Room 15 Parents! Homework Clarification: PAW PAGES! I would like to clarify something about the Weekly Literacy Packet that I didnt make sufficiently clear last week. Ive gotten feedback that some of the students are stressing about the pages of the packet that include the word scrambles and the crossword puzzles. Let me explain my expectations: There are two parts to the literacy packet. 1. 2. The first 11 pages provide daily practice with reading comprehension, composition, and writing mechanics. The last three pages of the packet are not strictly academics-oriented but rather are intended mainly to be thought provoking and to spur creativity. Its important to practice creativity regularly! Starting this week, these last three pages will be distinguished by a paw sticker in the upper corner (cause I have a pile of paw stickers left over from kindergarten). For future reference, these last three pages will be referred to as the Paw Pages. So, the Paw Pages are creativity starters. Some of the questions are intended to be imprecise and some will be difficult to answer. While I expect every student to attempt the Paw Pages, I do not want anyone to stress over the Paw Pages. Really. Just give it your best shot. If you have any questions about this or any other aspect of homework in Room 15, please dont hesitate to let me know. Sincerely,
