JOB PURPOSE

To work with the Principal to lead and manage the College to achieve outstanding student success.

To contribute actively to the work of the College Senior Leadership Team in the development of the Colleges strategic plan and objectives. To provide a role model of excellent practice for staff and students. To establish Lowestoft Sixth Form College as the first choice for local learners. LEADING LEARNING To ensure that curriculum provision is responsive to the needs of students and the community and is cost effective. To oversee curriculum timetabling and ensure efficiency of the staffing budget To manage assessment, recording & reporting systems of student progress To be responsible for the development and promotion of the Colleges teaching and learning strategy To promote and embed the use of new technologies and other innovative practice for learning To direct the work of the learning resource centres To foster a learning culture that is supportive, innovative and responsive to the needs of students To develop and maintain positive collaborative partnerships as directed by the Principal, with local schools, Lowestoft FE College, Suffolk County Council and relevant community groups QUALITY IMPROVEMENT To ensure a whole College focus on achieving high success rates & positive value added To report to the Corporation on performance outcomes and strategies for quality improvement To lead robust and accurate whole College self-assessment To devise, oversee and implement the Colleges annual Quality Improvement Plan To be responsible for co-ordinating, monitoring and evaluating target setting to achieve measurable outcomes (to include success review for subjects in special measures) To develop, monitor and implement whole College quality cycles including the quality calendar, lesson observations, student feedback & engagement To manage the Colleges Performance Management systems including the Professional Standards Payment (PSP) process To act as the Colleges co-ordinator for ALIS and any other value-added systems used by the College To lead the Colleges preparation for inspection and act as nominee

MANAGEMENT INFORMATION To be responsible for the development and promotion of the Colleges Information strategy To lead the MIS team to ensure the prompt, reliable, accurate collection of data for both external and internal use. This will include data for Inspection, the SAR, Ffe, Minimum Levels of Performance and the submission of the ILR and SIR returns To be responsible for interpreting, reporting and modelling the impact of current funding methodology and audit requirements on the College curriculum offer COMMUNITY LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT To define training and professional learning development priorities for the College To organise & plan the delivery of professional development including INSET days To promote reflective and innovative practice GENERAL To undertake an appropriate programme of teaching as directed by the Principal To be aware of and follow College policies and procedures relating to child protection, health & safety, security, confidentiality and data protection. To celebrate diversity and promote equality, ensuring everyone has equal access to College Services regardless of gender, social, cultural, linguistic, religious and ethnic background. To manage appropriate budgets and ensure that these are efficiently operated To comply with the Colleges Financial Regulations and Procedures To ensure compliance with all relevant legislation To act as deputy to the Principal To assist and support the Principal in other duties which may be required from time to time The above duties will inevitably change as the work of the College develops. The Postholder should therefore expect periodic variations to this job description. This job description may also be supplemented on a regular basis by individual objectives derived from College strategies. The post involves commitment to working outside the normal College timetabled day. The postholder is expected to take responsibility for the College along with other members of the Senior Leadership Team, on a rota basis throughout the year.
