Chapter -5 Ans 30 Message conveyed by stacked Bar chart: a) In 2007, Acer was having the highest market share

and in 2008, HP has the highest market share. Except Acer, Apple and Toshiba, market share of all companies has increased from 2007 to 2008. Market Share
Others Toshiba Apple Acer HP Dell 0% 2219.2 1007.7 1255 2373.9 2288.3 4465.8 20% 40% 3992.6 900 1159.3 1527.3 4439.5 5344.6 60% 80% 100% 4th quarter 2008 4th quarter 2007

b) The only problem with stacked Bar chart is that we cannot measure marginal distribution which can give the change in market share of individual companies whereas Mosaic chart shows the change in marginal distribution also. Difference between them cannot be found as we have not drawn Mosaic chart. Ans 40 a) Marginal Distribution for two variables: Button Down Small Medium Large 18 65 103 41.70% Polo 27 82 65 39.01% Beach Print 36 28 22 19.28% 18.16% 39.24% 42.60% 446

b) Conditional Distribution of sizes of polo sirts Button Down Small Medium Large 18 65 103 186 Beach Polo Print 27,16% 82, 47% 65, 37% 174

36 28 22 86

54 93 125 272

c) Conditional distribution of styles of large shirts Button Down Small Medium Large 18 65 Polo 27 82 Beach Print 36 28 81 175 190 446

22, 103,54.211% 65,34.211% 11.579% 83 109 64

d) Manager should use this table to order the style of shirts in respect of their sizes. For eg. In Polo shirts, Medium have highest demand of 47% so Medium polo shirts should be ordered in large quantity. Same kind of analysis is applied to other style of shirts. This way manager can avoid large inventory and have a good stock of products which customer demands. Chapter-6 Ans 24 a) There is a linear association in the scatterplot. b) Yes, association has negative linear relationship i.e its direction is from top left to bottom right c) Correlation : -0.5 d) Ans 48 a) As shown in below figure, crimat rate is 0% for most of the houses and then it follows a negative linear relationship with R^2 = 0.151.

b) Correlation coefficient between median and crime rate is -0.388.

c) As shown in below figure, there is no change in crime rate for houses having values less than $50000 but crime rate reduced to 0% for houses having value greater than $50000. Also, correlation has been reduced to -0.281.

e) We can conclude following results:

a. The crime rate is 0% for several houses especially for houses having value from $15000 to $38000. For other houses, the crime rate increases with the decrease in hosing value b. After truncating the value of houses(houses which have present value more than $50,000), it was observed that there is no change in crimate rate for houses having values less than $50000. From this, we can conclude that there is weak form of negative correlation between values of houses and crime rate.
