Practices may be good, better and best What we aim is to reach the next. The next holds the key To the future that we want it to be!

Technical Session II: Emotions at work

Is it important to suppress ones emotions at work? Imagine an organization where employees work bereft of emotions - wouldnt the dealing seem to be with a group of robots? Can emotions be leveraged in a manner that organizational productivity takes a leap? It is important for all of us to control and manage our emotions at work. Inability to focus on work, lower co-worker morale, and disruptive team work may result in negative emotional outbursts such as anger, worry, panic, sadness. Inappropriate positive emotions such as over-exuberance or over excitement can also result in difficulties interacting with others at work. Most companies do not follow any emotional decorum policy yet discourage emotional display. Emotions make us human and since they are an integral part of our lives, why deny them at work? The best next practices in HR must not overlook the strength of emotions and their correlation with the employee productivity and hence the organizational goals. The second session of the seminar aims to identify the next practices regarding handling and/or accepting emotions at workplace.
