Research refers to the investigation and fetching information on a certain topic from people, books, journals, internet and newspapers. So knowledge on any subject is far short the perfect nature and reality of any topic under research, that's why new inventions, innovations, up-gradations and discoveries are unearthed when research is conducted. Research involves seeking out the information either already in print or in people minds.....whether they know about it or not.....what's in their minds...but a successful researcher must have the quality to pull out the information from people conscious and subconscious minds. So above is what a research process involves. We have to talk about the completeness of any research process, whether there are research methodologies which are too perfect to contain any errors and misunderstandings. As nature and the universe is full of miracles and puzzles. We are not born to already have the knowledge, what's there in the universe and what's the nature's laws. We have gradually gained the knowledge through trial and error basis. THE TRIAL AND ERROR BASIS is exactly what we call a research process. So as the name indicates, in this process there must be errors, inaccuracies, mistakes and misunderstandings. Without these constituents.....yes I say it constituents of a genuine research...essence of a real research process is vanished. As we develop a subject from a scratch, the research involves in its development must also encounter great deal of failures.....that I have referred as errors.....and success as well, because one is bound to succeed, if one is fervently in search for something though one may have to suffer from failures discouraging one's moral. So the word perfect doesn't seem to be fitting research because the very essence, the very crux matter of a research process is imperfection. We may improve the quality and quantity of a research process but that don't necessarily implies that we have done the perfect job. How much research you do, you are going towards the realities but still you be misleading to believe in something which is not a reality or a perfection. So theories develop, reject, develop again in a new way, reject again and so on............we being not to reach the perfection.

There is a law of diminishing returns: once you've investigate a subject to a certain depth every extra hour results in fewer and fewer new facts being uncovered. It's up to you to decide when you have enough, depending on the purpose you are doing the research for.
