IMAC-XXXI Conference and Exposition on Structural Dynamics

Engineering Nonlinearities in Structural Dynamics
If you attended IMAC XXX, then you experienced the comprehensive program of tutorials, technical papers and social events. If you missed the last IMAC, then you have an opportunity to share in this experience by submitting a paper, developing a session, or just attending IMAC XXXI. The theme for IMAC-XXXI highlights specific technologies of interest to the structural dynamics community. In the last decade, testing and modeling have increasingly embraced nonlinearity. Modeling and anlysis software have emerged with the capability to handle many types of nonlinearity in engineering applications. Likewise, testing and anlysis methods in experimental dynamics have ventured into increasingly nonlinear behaviors. IMAC-XXXI will offer a unique forum to learn the state-of-the-practice, discuss recent advances, and understand the impact that nonlinearity dynamics have in engineering design and analysis. Sessions are being developed around this theme. In addition, sessions will be developed in all areas of structural dynamics including those with applications in experimental methods, modeling, vibration, control, identification, simulation uncertainty, model validation and verification, modal analysis and design. For IMAC-XXXI we will continue developing sessions that feature the focus topics developed several years ago. Each of these topics has a standing committee that will work with you to develop sessions in the following areas. The focus group topics are not the only areas which will be covered in the IMAC-XXXI Technical Program. The general topics have been the backbone of the IMAC Technical Programs and, as always, we invite your contributions in any of the areas listed below: GEnErAL ToPICS:
Active Control Aerospace Testing Techniques Aircraft/Aerospace Analytical Methods Damage Detection Energy Harvesting Experimental Techniques Finite Element Techniques Modal Parameter Identification Modal Testing Methods Multifunctional Structures Processing Modal Data rotating Machinery Substructuring Methods System Identification

FoCUS GroUP ToPICS:

Adaptive Structures Acoustics Biodynamics Bridges Damping Experimental Dynamics Substructuring Model Validation nonlinear Systems Sensors and Instrumentation Shock and Vibration Sports Equipment Dynamics Structural Health Monitoring Turbine Blades Uncertainty Quantification

CIVIL STrUCTUrES ToPICS:

Bridge Monitoring Cable Dynamics Control Systems Correlation and Updating Damage Detection Models Experimental Techniques Modal Parameter Identification Modal Testing Methods nonlinear Methods Structural Modeling Wind Tower Vibration

For more information about how to get involved and possibly develop a session based on any of the topics, please contact Tom Proulx (director@sem1.com).

IMAC-XXXI Exposition
A comprehensive Exposition of testing and analysis equipment is always a highlight at IMAC. Please contact Joni normandin to reserve your booth today: (860) 484-4387 joni@sem1.com View a list of 2012 Exhibitors on the Web: sem.org.

Submission Information

The IMAC Abstract and Paper Publishing process is completely electronic. All abstracts will be received electronically, as per the GUIDELInES online at sem.org. Accepted authors are expected to submit a paper for inclusion in the Proceedings. Downloadable IMAC-XXXI Proceedings will be available. Abstracts must be 200 words or less, and should not contain symbols, equations, graphs or figures.

Acceptance Policy
When IMAC began, one goal was to make the participation as broad as possible. In keeping with this goal, we are now instituting a policy where any individual will be limited to presenting a maximum of two papers. This does not mean that you cannot be an author (even the corresponding author) on more than two papers. It does mean that you may orally present only two papers. Acceptance of a paper is based on the requirement of the author to present the accepted paper at the Conference. Failure to present, or to find a suitable substitute to present the paper will result in a fee assessment of $250.00 to offset the cost incurred by the Conference of listing the paper in the Final Program and in publishing the Conference Proceedings. An author has until november 21, 2012 to notify SEM Headquarters that an accepted paper is being withdrawn.

Important Dates
June 18, 2012 July September Abstracts due to SEM Authors notified, via e-mail, of acceptance/rejection Accepted authors are required to submit final paper electronically
