Days of Prayer

EXPLANATION

30
Days of Prayer

Thank you for giving yourself to the task of praying for our Pastors
Conference! This small guide is intended to prepare you personally
as well as guide you into focused intercession for the conference.
Our hope is that at the end of the 30 days, you will have had a new
encounter with the Lord, and that God will have infused you with
faith regarding the many requests you have made of him.
This is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask
anything according to his will he hears us. 1 Jn 5:14
If we expect to have our prayers answered, this verse clearly shows
us that we must pray according to Gods will. That would immediately
eliminate many items, as well as opening a vast world for us to pray
about. Gods will is found most clearly in the holy Scriptures, so for the
next 30 days we will be using the Scriptures as our guide for prayer.
Each week of 7 days has two sections to it. The first section is
intended primarily for personal prayer (though it could certainly be
used by couples, together, or at family worship). The second section
provides 3 suggested requests to be used in Small Group gatherings, Church-wide Prayer Meetings, and during Sunday Worship.
During Sunday Worship these requests could be offered:
(1) During a Pastoral Prayer
(2) During a moment of congregational prayer
(3) As part of the Pre-Service Prayer meeting
(4) As a Power Point highlight where 1-3 people come to the mic
and pray one request each, etc.

Worship

The personal prayer section begins with a verse focusing on God. It is

actually possible to start praying without due regard for the One we
are praying to. This verse is intended to quiet our busy hearts and lift
them up to behold our great God! Take the time to read it over slowly
and meditate on its implications for the conference. Then lift up your
heart and using this text of Scripture, worship our triune God!

30 Days of Prayer

Confession &
Promise

The next section is confession. The 30 days will focus on questions

about love. If we have not displayed a gospel-revealing nor a gospelempowered love, we will need to confess this to God. Unconfessed
sin keeps us in a place where we dont want to pray or in a place
where our prayers remain somewhat fake and superficial. Worst of
all, God will not answer the prayers of one still holding on to sin. If
we dont confess our sins and receive cleansing, we have no business interceding for othersit will be a wasted effort.
If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not
have listened. Ps 66:18
This section will also include a promise intended to generate faith
for the difficult task of facing our own sins (much easier to face and
clearly see others sin than our own). Frequent trips to the cross are
good for the soul! How good it is when we carry the burdens of sin
there and come back with the burdens gone!

Intercession

This section is where we get down to the business of praying for the
conference in earnest. Each day, a two-fold pattern for prayer will
be presented. A promise regarding the Word of God, and a promise
regarding the Spirit of God will be given.
The promises are intended to create faith in your heart for prayer because
promises clearly articulate Gods heart and will for his people. Take each
promise and use it in your prayer. Turn the entire promise into a prayer for
the conference. Remember God loves to answer his promises!

Declaration

This is a much overlooked aspect of prayer that is found all over the
Psalms and in many other Scriptures. We speak out truth to God and
to our own souls (and to the enemies of God who listen and tremble).
Doing this at public gatherings of the church can cause the faith in the
room to rise exponentially. There is something about grand truths that
lift the heart and strengthen it! Speak out the faith declaration. Own it
as your own mini-confession of faith for the day. May these declarations be used to gradually increase your faith in God over these next
30 days and may you see many of your prayers answered powerfully!
Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my
name, he will give it to you. Until now you have asked nothing
in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be
full! John 16:23-24

(a) For the Power of the Word
We also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the

Day 2
Worship- The Freedom and Self-Sufficiency of God
The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of

himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything. Acts
17:24-25
Confession - Have I treated others as I would wish
to be treated?
Whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for
this is the Law and the Prophets. Matt 7:12

If anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus
Christ the righteous. 1 Jn 2:1
Intercession for Pastors Conference
(a) For the Power of the Word
For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not
return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout,
giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word
be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but
it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the
thing for which I sent it. Isa 55:10-11
(b) For the Power of the Spirit
Until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness
becomes a fruitful field, and the fruitful field is deemed a forest.
Isa 32:15

by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too
hard for you. Jer 32:17
Confession - Have I done wrong to anyone in my life?
Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of
the law. Rom 13:10
Remember Gods promise:
If anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a
vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of
the house, ready for every good work. 2 Tim 2:21
Intercession for Pastors Conference
(a) For the Power of the Word
Is it not yet a very little while until Lebanon shall be turned into a
fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be regarded as a forest? In
that day the deaf shall hear the words of a book, and out of their
gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind shall see. The meek shall
obtain fresh joy in the LORD, and the poor among mankind shall
exult in the Holy One of Israel. Isa 29:17-19
(b) For the Power of the Spirit

us; he has struck us down, and he will bind us up. After two days he
will revive us; on the third day he will raise us up, that we may live
before him. Let us know; let us press on to know the LORD; his going
out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the
spring rains that water the earth. Hos 6:1-3

The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that
Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the

example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life.

Small Group - Prayer Meeting

Sunday Church Requests
1. Pray that the Holy Spirit will give everyone at
the conference love for one another with a gospelrevealing heart that reaches out and welcomes
one another.
May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in
such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that
together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our

welcomed you, for the glory of God. Rom 15:5-7
2. Pray that all who attend the conference will
come with humble and broken hearts, inviting the
reviving presence of God among them.
Thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity,
whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, and also
with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of
the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite. Isa 57:15
3. Pray for a spirit of prayer upon all the attendees,
that opens each persons heart to the magnitude of
the work of redemption.
I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and pleas for mercy, so that, when they look
on me, on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him,
as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one
weeps over a firstborn. Zech 12:10

Let the prophet who has a dream tell the dream, but let him

Day 23
Worship Christ the Spirit-filled Man
The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the
fear of the LORD. And his delight shall be in the fear of the LORD. He shall
not judge by what his eyes see, or decide disputes by what his ears hear,
but with righteousness he shall judge the poor, and decide with equity
for the meek of the earth; and he shall strike the earth with the rod of his
mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall kill the wicked. Isa 11:2-4
Confession - Do I love kindness? Is my life characterized by kind words and actions?
He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require
of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with
your God? Micah 6:8
Remember Gods promise:
Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the
heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do
not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses,
but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.
Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may
receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Heb 4:14-16

Day 24
Worship - Christ the Spirit-filled Man
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has
anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind
up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the
opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the year
of the LORDs favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort
all who mourn. Isa 61:1-2
Confession - Does gratitude characterize my life?
Because you did not serve the LORD your God with joyfulness and
gladness of heart, because of the abundance of all things, therefore
you shall serve your enemies whom the LORD will send against you,
in hunger and thirst, in nakedness, and lacking everything. Deut
28:47-48 | Whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in
the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through
him. Col 3:17 | Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it
with thanksgiving. Col 4:2

I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there
came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was
presented before him. And to him was given dominion and glory and a
kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his
dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his
kingdom one that shall not be destroyed. Dan 7:13-14
Confession- Do I hold grudges against others? Or do I
move with blessing towards those who hurt me?

(a) For the Power of the Word

To this day I have had the help that comes from God, and so I stand here
testifying both to small and great, saying nothing but what the prophets
Declaration and Moses said would come to pass: that the Christ must suffer and that,
I do not account by being the first to rise from the dead, he would proclaim light both to
my life of any
our people and to the Gentiles. Acts 26:22-23 | For as the earth brings
value nor as pre- forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes what is sown in it to sprout up,
cious to myself, if so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to sprout up before
only I may finish all the nations. Isa 61:11

but if it dies, it bears much fruit. John 12:23-24
Confession Am I open to reason? peaceable?
gentle? pure? is my conscience at peace?
The wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to
reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. Jas 3:17
Remember Gods promise:
Much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead

(b) For the Power of the Spirit
But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father,
the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me. John 15:26 | Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where
the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled
face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into
the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes
from the Lord who is the Spirit. Therefore, having this ministry by the
mercy of God, we do not lose heart. 2 Corth 3:17-4:1
Declaration
To you I lift up my eyes, O you who are enthroned in the heavens! Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the

Worship Christ who was executed, raised, and then exalted
He died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for
him who for their sake died and was raised. 2 Corth 5:15 | Therefore God
has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every
name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on
earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father. Phil 2:9-11
Confession Have I earnestly prayed for believers
caught in sin?
This is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever
we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him. If
anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask,
and God will give him life. 1 Jn 5:14-16 | Far be it from me that I should sin
against the LORD by ceasing to pray for you. 1 Sam 12:23

Declaration
If I must boast, I
will boast of the
things that show
my weakness.
But he said to

so that the power
of Christ may

(b) For the Power of the Spirit
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the

I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with
knowledge and understanding. Jer 3:15 | I will be with your mouth
and teach you what you shall speak. Exod 4:12 | If you utter what is
precious, and not what is worthless, you shall be as my mouth.
Jer 15:19
2. Pray that Christ will be magnified in the preaching, the singing, and in all private conversations
In every place where I cause my name to be remembered I will come
to you and bless you. Exod 20:24 | How precious is your steadfast
love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of
your wings. They feast on the abundance of your house, and you
give them drink from the river of your delights. For with you is the
fountain of life; in your light do we see light. Ps 36:7-9
3. Pray that God will manifest Himself as his people
praise him!
You are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel. Ps 22:3 | Then the
LORD came down in the cloud and spoke to him, and took some of
the Spirit that was on him and put it on the seventy elders. And as
soon as the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied Would that all
the LORDs people were prophets, that the LORD would put his Spirit
on them! Numbers 11:25, 29 | When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came
from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the
entire house where they were sitting And they were all filled with
the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit
gave them utterance. Acts 2:1-2, 4
