Catalyst Webworks was a custom web development and social web marketing shop for small businesses and non-prots. As the Director of Development & Marketing, I spent my time managing 50 local and national clients. I crafted and monitored social web marketing strategies, provided technical and marketing support, managed freelance developers, coded custom CMS sites, coded custom plugins, and managed our server infrastructure. I also traveled the country speaking at publishing industry conferences about our content discovery strategies, community-building successes, and digital marketing campaigns. I wrote regular articles for leading publishing-industry publications, and I consulted for businesses and non-prot organizations. My wife and I sold the business in May of 2012.

Chelsea Green is the leading publisher of books on the politics and practice of sustainable living. As Web Editor, I planned, staffed, and managed the company's rst Web Department. I designed and programmed the company's web site (using WordPress). I crafted and executed the company's web and content marketing campaigns. I wrote and/or edited the daily blog content. I established and maintained symbiotic relationships with The Hufngton Post, AlterNet, TreeHugger, PlanetGreen, Current, and other notable blogs in our niche. During my time with the company, we tripled our web trafc, established a strong and lively web community, increased our sales by a substantial percentage (which I'm not at liberty to disclose), and grew to be the second most popular book publisher on Twitter. Our community-building strategies were featured in Publishers Weekly, Publishing Trends, Book Business Magazine, and others.
