Welcome Back to School Monroe Families! Our first week back to school has gone extremely well. Thank you for all of your support as we transition into a new school year. This year is full of exciting changes! First, we have been given the opportunity to serve all of our students breakfast each morning free of charge! Students can choose whether they want to eat or not, but its always available for them. Second, we are having our recess before students eat lunch. Students already seem to be eating better during their lunchtime and are more readily transitioning back into their classrooms to begin their afternoon learning. Finally, our bell times have changed in order to allow students more time to enter the building, unpack their backpacks and get settled into their classrooms. At 8:33 we will open exterior classroom doors for our students. They must be in their seats and ready for the day when our last bell rings at 8:38. We have several new staff members that I would like to welcome this year. Kindergarten- Amanda Campbell 1st Grade- Penny Alexander (from Library Media Asst.) 2nd Grade- Karrine Hawkins (from part-time 1st/2nd support) 3 Grade- Amanda Washburn and Karlee Maitland 4th Grade- Lisa Riggenbach (from Interventionist) and Sara Maurer 5th Grade- Sabrina Opila (from Interventionist) Interventionists- Michelle Nab and Katie Newman English Language Acquisition- Heidi Eichman Art- Mike Willy and Annie McNeil-VanTatenhove Music- Marcy Cochran School Psychologist- Erin Proctor Occupational Therapist- Mandy Babcock Learning Center Teacher- Miranda Bandemer (from parttime to full-time) Gifted and Talented- Molly Blehm Library- Dawn Kopman Technology- Penelope Sanford Faculty Assistant- Mary Nelson Custodian- Debra Mitchell

We look forward to a great year with a wonderful team of staff, students, and families. We know that educating your children is a combined effort and requires strong relationships, open communication, and focus on students first. Thank you for being a part of our team! I look forward to seeing each of you at our Back To School Night on Thursday, September 6th, from 5 to 7.
