Now-a-days corruption can be seen everywhere.

It is like cancer in public life, which has not become so rampant and perpetuated overnight, but in course of time. A country where leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, Lai Bahadur Shastri and Kamraj have taken birth and led a value-based is now facing the problem of corruption. When we talk of corruption in public life, it covers corruption in politics, state governments, central governments, "business, industry and so on. Public dealing counters in most all government offices are the places where corruption most evident. If anybody does not pay for the work it is sure work won't be done. People have grown insatiable appetite for money in them and they can go to any extent to get money. Undoubtedly they talk of morality and the importance of value-based life but that is for outer show. Their inner voice is something else. It is always crying for money. It has been seen the officers who are deputed to look into the matters of corruption turn out to be corrupt. Our leaders too are not less corrupt. Thus the network of corruption goes on as usual and remains undeterred. Corruption is seen even in the recruitment department where appointments are ensured through reliable middle agencies. Nexus between politicians and bureaucrats works in a very sophisticated manner. Nexus does also exist between criminals and police. Everybody knows that criminals have no morals, hence nothing good can we expect from them. But police are supposed to be the symbol of law and order and discipline. Even they are indulged in corruption. This is more so because they enjoy unlimited powers and there is no action against them even on complaints and sufficient proof of abuse of office atrocities and high handedness. Corruption can be need-based or greed-based. Better governance can at least help to check need-based corruption. Better governance can check greed based corruption also because punishment for the corrupt will be very effective and prompt in a better-governed country. The steps should be taken to correct the situation overall. Declarations of property and assets of the government employees are made compulsory and routine and surprise inspections and raids be conducted at certain intervals. Though it seerris very difficult to control corruption but it is not impossible. It is not only the responsibility of the government but ours too. We can eliminate corruption if there will be joint effort. We must have some high principles to follow so that we may be models for the coming generation. Let us take a view to create an atmosphere free from corruption. That will be our highest achievement as human beings. Global Warming is a major problem which our environment faces today terribly. This global warming is caused due to Greenhouse Effect. What is greenhouse effect? It is a condition in which Earths heat trapping increases more from the normal levels.

Climate change, devastation of the ecosystem, water contamination, melting ice over Arctic and Antarctic regions, negative impacts in the agricultural sector are just the problems caused by global warming. A lot of damages have been done by this phenomenon. As the old adage said, There is no other place like home and our Earth is our home, so we have to take significant steps to take care of our home. Policies on global warming are made each day. Are these policies properly implemented each day? The answer is big NO. How many policies are made the effects of global warming are ravaging our planet. For so many of us global warming is a broad-reaching problem. This is making the slide in this way of thinking that they cant do nothing, only the rich who are seated in the seats of the government can only save them from the tortures of global warming. This is wrong. Who you are, whatever you are you can do something for your planet when you think global warming is a problem. Global Warming is too serious for the world any longer to ignore its danger or split into opposing factions on it. "CHILD IS THE FATHER OF MAN" the famous lines by William Wordworth. It symbolizes the need of children in building a healthy nation and society. Childhood is the first stage after infancy. It is the formative period in men's life. For their minds are very soft, receptive and plastic at this tender age. Childrens mind is like potter's clay. It has to be shaped in a right manner. A child normally has to enjoy its childhood days with its parents, teachers, friends, etc. It is the age where fine and long lasting impressions gather in child's mind. Childhood is the best time to develop spiritual, intellectual, emotional support. But this rule of nature has been crippled by the perilous child labour Every child has his right to enjoy his childhood. But inspite of this a few children are forcefully put to work throughout the world about 250million children are child labourer. Due to poverty poor parents put their children to work in order to supplement the family's economic status. This conceal's the talent and interests in them. Their urge to go to school is dissmised by their parents. This makes the nation lose a few creative minds. The children are deprived of education. They are made to work under threatening conditions. They are overworked and under paid children are made to shine shoe on footpaths, they work as milkboys, ragpickers, house maids, cleaners in hotels....etc. We can find children selling newspapers on highways. All such adverse practices are to be abolished once for all, without leaving its traces for future generations

Our country has been a huge melting pot of various beliefs and behaviours which make up the different cultures that came to India. It is a composite culture due to the multiple influences which have contributed to the creation of values and ethics. The projection of our culture has definitely taken a nosedive but something which has lasted, grown and emancipated over centuries cannot easily be wiped out or disintegrated. It grows may be differently with time. It takes generations to give a definite shape and keeps on adding to itself. Its always dynamic, something vibrating and acceptable to changes. Civilisation relating to India goes back to several millenniums and the earliest one on record is the Indus Valley Civilisation, Hinduism owes it origins to Vedas and the Hindu Culture laid reverence for these holy scriptures scripted in the sacred language of Sanskrit. It basically had some salient points which were a belief in God in some form, emphasis on rituals, which were believed to unite them in spiritual kinship, belief in the Guru-Shishya tradition of learning, a demarcated caste system based on the work allotted. Besides the Hindu religion we have the Jains who have claimed their religion to be most ancient of all, even to Aryan Hinduism and presented scholarly support to the existence of Jainism in the Indus Valley. Buddhism, is another religion in our country which is based on the teachings of Gautam Buddha. It is also one of the great religions of the world. Scholars have avoided the world religion for Buddhism and prefer to call it a system of morality or ethics. Islam was brought to India by the invaders and even as they set up their rule in the country, they indulged in propagation and forceful conversion. It is today a religion with one of the largest followings in the world. The earliest of recorded and prominent invasion was that of Alexander. The major effect of this invasion was that his march produced a land route from Europe to India with the result that Greek and Indian civilizations came in close contact in fluencing each other to a great extent. Later we have had the influences of Christianity brought into India by the French, the Portugese and to a major extent by the Britishers who ruled for nearly two centuries. Further to this we have had a sprinkling of Jews and a good chunk of Parsis seeking refuge in our country. In the cauldron of this composite mixture of various religions and cultures evolved the Hindustani culture in Northern Indian and the Dravidian culture of the South. The Bhakti movement in the Middle Ages in India were an all-india socio-religious movement. Ramanuj, Nanak, Ramanand and Kabir, Namdeva, Tukaram and Ramdas, Jaidev and Chaitanya denounced the caste system and brought about socio-religious reforms in the Hindus society.

The Nawabi culture of Central India and mainly Lucknow brought a different artistic style to the prevalent customs of royalty which filtered down to the middle class. This was famously known as Tehzib. The political setup of our country is based on acceptance of this composite way of life with freedom to practice ones own religious and culture in any part of the country. The majority Hindus have always been a tolerant religion and have soaked a variety of this composition into their culture yet several things practiced today are very hard to be categorized. The social fabric of our country has been made strong over the centuries through our varied cultures. It is our religious and culture which is attracting persons of all religious and nationality to the country. Millions of Indians have left for foreign shores and their second generations are growing up there. These young ones are more susceptible to change and assimilation. They are the ones growing up in an environment alien to us but quiet natural to them. The surprising part is that even after all the exposure to this foreign culture, they continue to retain the basics of the culture their parents had imbibed in them by behaving normally at home. The roots are so deep that it is quiet difficult to strip them off. Just by singing or strumming rock, Lazzard Pop music does not annihilate our culture. Wearing Western dresses or speaking in a different accent does not mean that our culture is at the point of disintegration. Beauty pageants, which are being violently opposed by a section of our society, are not powerful enough to change or influence our culture. The younger generation has still its umbilical cord connected to their ethnic culture securely even as they become progressively modern. There are millions of youngsters in the metros dancing at discotheques who go back to retain their tradition and culture where it really matters. It is definitely the strength of our culture that it cannot be so easily traded off. It is not the physical being, It is a State of Mind. The West has borrowed our Yoga, transcended meditation, Hare Rama Hare Krishna and Ayurveda seems none the worse for it. In fact it grows more strong even like us with our young ones living it up in style. The world is after all heading for a Global Village so let us get the taste of it and continue to emancipate. Our culture can only gain by adding to it. What matters really is our identity and our ethics. Our Indian Culture teaches us to respect elders and to treat the Guru or Teacher at a rank equal to ones parents. This is something which is unheard of in the developed nations. Our culture is slowly being eroded and the day it is considered immaterial, we shall no more have a nation. The beliefs, development of human powers, mental and spiritual training in the background of our religious traditions, all make a concerted move for our culture to be vibrant and a living entity. Culture unity means a wholesome cohesive undercurrent flowing into the beliefs of people which jointly compose our nation. These perennial beliefs, social traditions and spiritual practices make up our cultural fabric. Cultural unity means Unity in Diversity but this has

remained a fake rhetoric only. These are the discriminating factors which are slowly growing at the roots of our culture. Our Culture will be wiped out because of this ambiguity. Let us awake and be equal to all transgressions on our cultural unity Terrorism is just a word in English, but it is a hazard for mankind. India faces the problems of poverty, population, hunger and literacy. But spread of terrorism is the most frightening of all. Be it in the small countries like Ireland and Israel, or in the big ones life Russia and USA, terrorism has become the main challenge to most of the governments today. Terrorism has been described as the use of international violence by group or individuals to achieve political goals, by the experts in U.S.A. In simple words, it is the spread of terror. It has to be remembered that if destruction of people is taken by the behalf of an established government against another country, then it is known as war, not terrorism. It consists of a series of act planned to spread pressure, panic and destruction in a population. Terrorism is not unthinking violence. Terrorist are very specific for what they want. Terrorist poses the greatest threats to mankind. They know no friends and recognize no rules. Although explosions and stray shooting are terrorist acts, flight hijacking has come to be their most preferred target of spreading terror among the masses of the countries. Previously it was assumed that terrorism in India would be limited to Kashmir only. But this belief has been proved baseless as terrorism has nearly spread all over India. There are many types of terrorist groups depending on what their objectives are. Terrorism is usually of two kinds: political terrorism which creates panic on a large scale and criminal terrorism which deals in kidnapping to take ransom. Political terrorism is much more dangerous than criminal terrorism as they are well-trained and its become difficult for law enforcing agencies to arrest them in time. For example- hundreds of terrorist are being trained at the Pakistan occupied Kashmir (POK). And in Punjab, there is no doubt that the terrorist are receiving training and weapons from Pakistan. Assam has been the most unstable state in the last few decades. Assam remains the only state in the northeast where terrorism is a major issue. Terrorism is also spread at national level. But the Regional terrorism is the most violent of all. This is because the terrorist think that dying in a terrorist act is sacred and holy, so they are willing to do anything. All the terrorist groups are made with different purposes. Terrorism is a world-wide problem. By now, the governments throughout the world are realizing that terrorism is a serious threat to dealt with. They believe in the power of bombs and guns over dialogue. Terrorist acts are well-planned. Every terrorist acts usually takes days and even months of preparation. Terrorist are usually young, but the brain behind them are old, seasoned politicians. Terrorists mostly recruit younger people in their group as it is easy to brainwash them. Freedom is the right to every individual. Our freedom is taken from us when terrorism strikes. In the recent years, the most powerful country, the USA was shocked when Afghanistanbased based terrorist organizations attacked on it. On September 21, 2011 a disaster took place in the New York City when two hijacked planes were flown straight into the World

Trade Centre. 6000 people were killed. The bombing of the World Trade Centre is one of the most deadly terrorist episodes in the world. This violent act of terrorism was mastermind by Al-Qaida leader Osama Bin Laden. After this attack, many challenges took place in front of us. Like- the old security systems were replaced by new and more complicated (also costly) security systems in airports. And in India, government developed many security measures like making more strict laws (like POTA Prevention of Terrorist activity Act), cracking down on their centres and keeping an eye from where terrorist receive money. POTA is an anti-terrorism legislation enacted by the Parliament of India in 2002. This act replaced the Prevention of Terrorism Ordinance (POTO) of 2001. There measures hardy had any effect. These security measures had no effect on political terrorism but they had decreased criminal terrorism by ten percent. Due to these risks from terrorism, the security at various places like airports, railway stations and government offices are kept tightenen. One of the deadliest terrorist attacks in India was the 1993 Bombay Bombings. It was a series of thirteen bombs that took place in Mumbai. The attacks were the most destructive bomb explosions in the history of India. It is believed that the explosions were in coordinate of Dawood Ibrahim, the leader of a terrorist group which stood in opposition of India. It takes months and sometimes years for the government to demolish a terrorist group. The best example for this can be the operation Neptune Sphere. It took months of planning and investigation for the U.S.A. to kill Osama. Finally on May 2, 2011 at night in Pakistan he was dead shot. The plan of this operation was not shared with Pakistans government. The saddest thing is that India not only faces terrorism from outside but also from within. In many cases, the leader of a terrorist group was once in favour of that country. For exampleOsama Bin Laden who was once promoted by the U.S.A. against Russia later became the greatest threat to the U.S.A. Terrorism is like a war, which is neither openly fought nor in a fair manner. Terrorism has become a global threat and needs to be controlled from the grass root level to the international level. It is also called that One persons terrorist, another persons freedom fighter. This can be explained with the example of Osama Bin Laden. Terrorism cannot be controlled by the law enforcing agencies alone. The world has to unite in order to face this growing threat of terrorism. Let us hope that the world would be free from this hazard very soon. Without terrorism, the world would become a better place to live in.

My mother is an affectionate and pious lady. She loves me very much. I love her, too. She takes care of all of us. She gets up early in the morning, makes our breakfast, lunch and dinner with her own hands. She looks after the cleanliness of the house and furniture, and also our clothes and health.

When I fall sick, my mother passes sleepless nights by the side of my sick bed. Her anxiety and her fear disappear after my recovery from illness. In my eyes, she is really an ideal mother. My mother has taught me the importance of discipline, good manners, honesty, sense of duty and reverence towards the elders in life. She also taught me to defend and help the poor and the weak, and lodge a protest against injustice. When I was just a child, my mother used to tell me many oriental and mythological tales. When I grew up a little, she taught me how to read and write. Even to this day, she helps me to prepare my homework given by my class teacher. In every matter of my life, I depend on my mother's help and guidance: Her blessings are always with me
