BIM Manager Attributes Every BIM centric design firm is going to need an innovative problem solver.

There are a myriad of issues that come up that need to be resolved. It will take someone that has an understanding of the limitations of the software and the API (the hook that the software manufacturer provides for automation). In the BIM world data is King and you will need someone that has an aptitude for database design, programming, software knowledge (how it works), and standards. BIM is asking more of a manager and my professional progression has evolved me into a software developer. I will list a few issues a BIM organization that uses Revit as their modeling tool below that include but are certainly not limited to: Define Revit and workflow standards for projects Family creation standards Shared, built-in, family parameter creation and management Schedules Copy Monitor procedures Mirror Project procedures Manage visibility settings Filter creation and application Leverage CAD data Data reuse Remodel projects with legacy data in CAD Prototypical projects One-off projects Storing, maintaining and reporting on pertinent data Automated project setup Coordinate file sharing with other trades Managing models, and data through life of the project Tracking budget information

Experience cant be substituted or faked. I have worked my entire professional career working with 3D models, databases, programming, problem solving and management. Most recently I have worked on large scale hospital projects spanning 4 years doing actual layout, shop drawings, clash detection (Navisworks Manage) and coordination work with the electrical contractor. Over the past year I have been working with a major retailer and their trades to implement BIM technologies and processes in their organization. I will work with your company to ensure your BIM projects run smoothly and your best interests are seen through to the end of the project.

BIM encompasses the inception of the owners program all the way to the as-built data that the facility manager and the consumers of data in operations will leverage. I can work with your organization at the beginning or jump in at any phase and provide a scalable solution. Beginning with your pre-defined program track and modify the design and schedule of your building through an intuitive easy to read user interface connected to your SQL database that is built from your spreadsheets, designs, building information model and submittals. The key is to link all of the data so that it can all be maintained parametrically. In other words, when someone makes a change on an asset in a specific room the data is also updated in your as-built model. This capability is imperative for the owner to properly manage the quality and budget for their project. The original design intent is captured and stored so that you the owner can monitor and work with the design team to ensure you are getting what you were promised.
