Director General of Education Ministry of Education Malaysia The Quick Facts published yearly by the Educational Planning and Research Division (EPRD), Ministry of Education Malaysia provides us with the latest trends and development in Malaysian education system. This pocket-size information-rich publication has become an indispensable document for those who are interested to know about Malaysia education statistics at a glance. The Quick Facts offers essential information on the number of schools, enrolment and teachers, as well as students achievement in national examinations. It also provides a glimpse of the statistics on private education. In addition, demographic and economic indicators of Malaysia and other selected World Education Indicators are also provided. Lastly, I would like to thank all the government and non-government agencies that have contributed towards this publication and hope that such cooperation will continue in the future for the benefit of all concerned.

Director Educational Planning and Research Division Ministry of Education Malaysia In line with the growing demand for accurate and reliable data for comparable educational statistics and indicators, the Educational Planning and Research Division (EPRD) is entrusted to produce the Quick Facts. The main objective of the publication is to act as a quick reference on Malaysian education statistics which can be used by decision-makers and policy planners. The statistical information provided can enable them to plan educational development policies and strategies based on accurate, valid and timely data. The Quick Facts 2011 contains information that will benefit the varied users which includes policy makers, educational planners, administrators and researchers. It is hoped that Quick Facts 2011 will contribute towards the development of a highly effective education system in Malaysia. I believe it will also help other agencies, especially international organizations to better understand the Malaysian education system.
