____________ r3labcon'"
Description of equipment
The LABCON Ultrasonic baths have been designed and manufactured to the highest standards, and
include the following standard features.
*304 Stainless steel seamless inner tank.
*Powder coated mild steel outer housing.
*Mains connection 230v 50Hz,with power on/offswitch.
*High performance PZT -sandwich -transducers, which provide optimum transfer ofthe ultrasound
into the liquid.
*Drain ball cock from Model UBM 8 for ease ofemptying.
*Degassing.
*Carrying handles from model UBM 8 to UBM 22
*Microprocessor controller with the following features:
Timer for 1 - 60 minutes. ( or 0 for continuous operation)
Visual display for remaining cleaningtime.
Heatng T amb C to 60C.
Visual display ofheat - up phase.
Power utilization indicator 10%- 100%
Constant power and automatic frequency control always ensure optimumdistribution ofultrasonic
energy.
HF- frequency 40 Khz.
Eight (8) diffrent programme options.
The four factors for successful ultrasonic cleaning:
Ultrasound: Produces small vacuum bubbles in liquids, which implode (cavitation).
The forces resulting from this, cause an intensive and gentle separation ofdirt
particles from the object to be cleaned.
Temperature:Manycleaning solutions requires elavated temperatures to be fully effective. The
cleaning solution can be heated by the bath's heating element.
Chemistry: The cleaning chemistry supports cavitation, reduces the water's surface tension,
separates and binds to the dirt particles. Different cleaning concentrates should be
used depending on the type ofdirt accumulation. (please consult your distributor).
Time: Compared with other methods, thejoint application ofchemistry and ultrasound reduces
cleaning time up to 90% . It last from a few seconds to a couple ofminutes depending on the
dirt accumulation.
Installation
Position the Ultrasonic bath on a level, sturdy, surface in an area where drafts and rapidly changing
ambient conditions are not present. Leave at least 200mmclearance all around the unit to allow for
ventilation and access.

Loading of the Bath:
____________rJ'abcon
1. The bath must not be operated without any liquid.
2. Withheated baths the liquid level must be maintained above the heating
elements, always fill the bath to the level approximately. (2/3 )
3. Inunheated baths maintain a minimumliquid level of (1/3).
4. Always checksuitability ofliquid and cleaning agents to be used with bath.
5. Always use the basket or trays available, do not put items directly in the bath.
6. Ensure that the article to be cleaned is totally immersed inthe liquid.
7. In heated baths, wait for the temperature to settle to the required value
before loading and starting the ultrasonic cleaning process.
8. To disable the heater, preset the required temperature to zero.

Maintenance
MAINTENANCE OFSTAINLESS STEEL
All stainless steel used inLabconproducts is ofhighquality(304). Although stainless steel is corrosion
resistant, it is not corrosion "proof'. Proper use and maintenance will ensure many years ofservice.
Stainless steel requires surface exposure to the oxygen in our atmosphere or aerated water for maxi-
mumdurability. Ifan object is allowed to rest directly onthe surface,
trapping moisture that becomes oxygen starved, the resultingelectrolytic action will pit or erode the
metal.
NOTE: Whenusingthe following chemicals, limit the time to a maximumoffour hours and then
clean surfaces immediately.
ALUMINlliM CHLORIDE
BARIUM CHLORIDE
CALCIUM CHLORIDE
FERROUS CHLORIDE

CLEANINGSUGGESTIONS
Clean stainless steel surface at regular intervals, using a mild soapywater solution followed by rinsing
and drying.
The following solution can be used to remove traces ofiron rust:-
~ WARNING
CARE MUST BE TAKEN WHEN USING THESE CHEMICALS.
ALWAYS WORK INA WELL VENTILATED AREA AND WEAR
THE CORRECT PROTECTIVE CLOTHING
Amixture oftwenty percent nitric acid and one and a halfpercent hydrofluoric acid. Wearing the cor-
rect protective clothing, and ina well ventilated room, swab solution on surface. Leave until rust has
loosened, flush the surface using fresh water making sure that all the acid is removed.
