This year’s Intersession will take place during the first two weeks of March from the 3rd – 14th.
Intersession is a truly unique and distinguished offering that you will not find at other schools. This
catalog highlights the course offerings for this year. As teachers, we feel honored and fortunate
to be able to be in a school that allows such freedom in crafting educational experiences for
your child.

Intersession provides students with a unique opportunity to spend two weeks exploring a selected
content area that is outside of their regular grade-level curriculum. Intersession is designed to be
interdisciplinary in nature bringing academic, physical, and vocational skills together in a project-
based format. Each teacher will offer an in-depth course based on specific content. The course
work involved in each Intersession will cover a variety of topics including oceanography, theater,
science of sport, local and international culture, environmental awareness and much, much more.
Please take the time to review this catalog with your child.

During Intersession, students will not attend their regular classes or be with their core teac hers.
Instead, students will spend the full two weeks (9:00am - 3:30pm) immersed in their selected
Intersession. There will be a daily lunch break and time for physical activity. Many Intersessions
will involve single and/or multi-day traveling excursions to important sites in and outside of San
Diego.

Students will register for their top three Intersession choices (much like X-Block registration) and
every effort will be made to honor one of these choices. Each student will be expected to
meet the academic requirements and assignments in order to pass the course. All intersession
coursework and participation will be evaluated as pass/fail.

As always, we are in need of your support and generosity. Given the unique design of the pro-
gram and the tailored needs of each program, we are asking for your help and support. You
can help through financial support of your child’s intersession or by supporting our teachers with
fundraising efforts, driving, donating materials, or even offering professional instruction on a spe-
cific topic. We will all be engaged in fundraising efforts to meet and exceed the financial needs
of these particular courses. Any help or donation will be greatly appreciated.

We know that the most meaningful learning takes place when students are able to connect
what they learn in the classroom with what happens in the real world. Intersession provides this
powerful connection!

Respectfully,
The HTMMA Staff
