At-a-glance
The motorsport industry requires high-level technicians and engineers to be at the forefront of competitive racing. The award opens up exciting opportunities within all sectors of motorsport and the motorsport service industries. This course, developed in conjunction with the motorsport industry, offers a good grounding and introduction to motorsport. Students learn basic skills to allow them to enter a race team and, in the second half of the year, progress to involvement in a major part of a motorsport operation working at one of our partner companies. The team prepares and supports cars which could potentially race anywhere in the world. In the latter part of the second year, study is University-based. The course develops sound technical knowledge and skills in motorsport and racing technology. On successful completion you will have achieved a Foundation degree in Motorsport Technology. If you wish to continue your studies to honours degree level, you have a choice to study Advanced Vehicle Dynamics, Aerodynamics or Engine Design in the Top-up year. There is also an opportunity for you to undertake a work-based project on work placement in a motorsport team, which not only gives you valuable experience, but provides an opportunity to demonstrate the skills developed during the course. By studying an extra Top-up year, you can achieve a BSc(Hons) in Motorsport Technology.
