Our Mission What we want to do To promote and provide an environment conducive to and for the purpose of, the advancement of family values, personal moral and spiritual values and strengthening of family ties through organising a wide range of social, recreational, cultural and spiritual nourishment activities including sports, enrichment courses, culinary skills, music & drama, outings, gatherings, celebration services, workshops, talks, seminars and the doing all such other things that are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above.

1. Advancement of family values We want to build strong families with the husband as the head of the wife (Ephesians 5:23) and who is responsible to love his wife (Ephesians 5:25) and bring his children up in the training and instruction of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4). The wife is to respect and submit to her husband as to the Lord (Ephesians 5:22). The children are to obey and honour their parents (Ephesians 6:1-2). We believe when the family is strong, the nation will be strong.

2. Personal moral values We want to build a strong godly and moral excellence character in our members (James 1:21) so that they may attain the whole measure of the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 4:13) and bearing the fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22)

3.Spiritual values We recognise that we are a tripartite being having a spirit, soul and body (1 Thessalonians 5:23). Just as our physical body needs to be nourished with physical food, our spirit also needs to be nourished with spiritual food (Hebrews 5:14) so that we can continually grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18) and become mature (Ephesians 4:13).

Our Core Values What we believe

1.Loyalty to Vision
We believe that we must be united behind a single vision. We believe that we are to help champion the vision with one mind and with undivided loyalty. We believe that we should collectively use our talents, abilities and financial resources to achieve this vision.

1 CHRONICLES 11 (NIV)

These were the chiefs of David's mighty men they, together with all Israel, gave his kingship strong support to extend it over the whole land, as the LORD had promised-

10

1 CHRONICLES 12 (NIV)

men of Zebulun, experienced soldiers prepared for battle with every type of weapon, to help David with undivided loyalty-50,000;

33

1 CHRONICLES 29 (NIV)

Then King David said to the whole assembly: "My son Solomon, the one whom God has chosen, is young and inexperienced. The task is great, because this palatial structure is not for man but for the LORD God. 2 With all my resources I have provided for the temple of my God

1 CHRONICLES 29 (NIV)

Then the leaders of families, the officers of the tribes of Israel, the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds, and the officials in charge of the king's work gave willingly.

1 CHRONICLES 29 (NIV)

The people rejoiced at the willing response of their leaders, for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the LORD. David the king also rejoiced greatly.

2. Accountability
We believe all members and leaders are to walk under submission and accountability to those placed above them. God has given us leaders to provide a spiritual covering for us by giving us godly counsel so that we will be protected from deception or error. Every office bearer is held accountable to someone else.

HEBREWS 13 (NIV)

your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of advantage to you.

PROVERBS 12 (NIV)

The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice.

15

ACTS 27 (NIV)

3. Active Participation
{Priesthood of Believers} We believe every member has unique gifts and abilities given by God and therefore has an active role to play in strengthening, encouraging and building up Agape Family Centre (AFC).

1 CORINTHIANS 12 (NIV)

these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.

11All

1 CORINTHIANS 14 (NIV)

it is with you. Since you are eager to have spiritual gifts, try to excel in gifts that build up the church.

12So

1 CORINTHIANS 14 (NIV)

everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort.

3But

4. Team Work
{Team Ministry}

We believe that the God given vision to Agape Family Centre cannot be fulfilled by one person. We believe we are parts of a body where each part carry out their respective roles in love so that the body grows healthily. We work with a passionate belief in a common goal.

1 CORINTHIANS 12 (NIV)

the body is not made up of one part but 27Now you of many are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

14Now

in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.

18But

1 Cor. 12

EPHESIANS 4 (NIV)

him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

16From

5. Equal Sacrifice
We believe that if we are to see Gods vision for Agape Family Centre come to pass, sacrifices will need to be made. However, we believe that the Pastors and Leaders are not the only ones who are to pay the price or carry the burden in order to see our God given vision being fulfilled. This should be the commitment of every member.

2 Carry

each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6

6. People Matter
We believe that people and their families are the core-business of AFC. Ministries are established to serve and meet the needs of people. AFC is organised into small groups called pastoral care groups to provide the necessary pastoral care for each member. We also believe that we should also look into the welfare of members and people in the community.

MARK 6 (NIV)

Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.

34When

23

Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds; Proverbs 27

DEUTERONOMY 15 (NIV)
11

There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land.

7. Mentoring
We believe in the training of members through mentoring sessions. We believe that those who are young in the faith are encouraged to go through a Foundation Class in order to have a well built foundation and be fruitful. Those who are mature believers of the faith are to become fathers and mothers to those younger in the faith.

7. Mentoring (Contd)
During mentoring session, mentors have an open relationship with their mentees. Mentees should have a teachable spirit and develop a learning attitude. Mentees are not easily offended when corrected. They know it is to push them up and not down.

PROVERBS 12 (NIV)

Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid.

LUKE 6 (NIV)

the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete."

49But

MATTHEW 13 (NIV)

the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it. He produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.

23But

8. Reproducing
We believe that our model in establishing strong families in a community can be replicated within our country and in nations. Our goal is to establish 153 autonomous Family Centres globally which has a common spiritual DNA to us in the long term.

MATTHEW 28 (NIV)

go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

9. Good Corporate Citizens

We believe that we are to abide to the laws of the country and be good corporate citizens living in peace and harmony with everyone in all godliness and holiness for this pleases God.

NEXT Our Culture How do we do things

1. Spirit of Excellence
We believe that when we do things, we do so with an excellent spirit which makes a remarkable difference. The beauty that excellence produces must be evident in our homes, businesses, communities and workplaces. Our environment, operations and events must all reflect this noble virtue.

1 KINGS 10 (NIV)
4

When the queen of Sheba saw all the wisdom of Solomon and the palace he 5 the food on his had built, table, the seating of his officials, the attending servants in their robes,

achievements and your 7 But I did not wisdom is true. believe these things until I came and saw with my own 9 Praise be to the eyes LORD your God, who has delighted in you and placed you on the throne of Israel.

Christian Excellence
At the very heart of the Christian gospel is a cross -the symbol of suffering and sacrifice, of hurt and pain and humiliation and rejection. I want no part of the Christian message which does not call me to involvement, requires of me no sacrifice, takes from me no comfort, requires of me less than the best I have to give. The duty of a Christian is to be faithful, not popular or successful.

Citation: Donald Wildmon in NFD Journal. Christianity Today, Vol. 31, no. 10.

2. With Faith
We believe that having faith in God will enable us to achieve and accomplish our goals which otherwise would not have been possible. We believe that when God calls us to do something, it is often beyond our capabilities. We need to have faith in God because without faith it is impossible to please God.

MATTHEW 19 (NIV)

looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

3. A Positive Attitude
We believe that when we undertake a task we need to do so with a positive attitude without complaining or giving excuses. Our positive attitude causes us to ask Why not? rather than Why? It is not about being blind to facts but it is a culture where we start with the positive rather than the negative.

PHILIPPIANS 2 (NIV)

= 20 to 30 gallons of water

= 200 to 300 gallons of water

It would have taken Rebekah anywhere between 1.5 hrs to 2hrs to water all the 10 camels !

4. Integrity
We believe that when we do things, we must do so with integrity. We need to have integrity in our relationships, when handling finances, confidential information, vows or pledges made.

I know my God, that you test the heart and are pleased with integrity. All these things have I given willingly and with honest intent.
1CHRONICLES 29:17

Those who keep their word gives Delight to God

The LORD hates those who dont keep their word, but he delights in those who do.

JUDGES 11 (NIV)

And Jephthah made a vow to the LORD : "If you give the Ammonites into my hands, 31 whatever comes out of the door of my house to meet me when I return in triumph from the Ammonites will be the LORD's, and I will sacrifice it as a burnt offering."

30

JUDGES 11 (NIV)

JUDGES 11 (NIV)

When he saw her, he tore his clothes and cried, "Oh! My daughter! You have made me miserable and wretched, because I have made a vow to the LORD that I cannot break."

THE WORLD NEEDS MEN & WOMEN... who cannot be bought; whose word is their bond; who put character above wealth; who will be as honest in small things as in great things; who will make no compromise with wrong; whose ambitions are not confined to their own selfish desires; who are true to their friends through good times and bad times, in adversity as well as in prosperity;
Charles Swindoll, Living Above the Level of Mediocrity, p.107-8.

5. Zeal
We believe that when we do things, we must do so with zeal. We undertake our tasks wholeheartedly with enthusiasm and joy.

ROMANS 12 (NIV)

be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

11Never

Catch on fire with enthusiasm and people will come for miles to watch you burn. John Wesley

6. Servanthood
We believe that when we do things, we need to do so with a servants heart. We are quick to respond and ready to serve. We place the interest of others above our own interests. We are not here to impress but to impart, to love others and not to lord over them. In serving others, we adopt a posture of humility.

PHILIPPIANS 2 (NIV)
5Your

attitude should be the same as that of Christ 6Who, being in very Jesus: nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7but made himself nothing,

PHILIPPIANS 2 (NIV)

taking the very nature of a servant, being made in 8And being human likeness. found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death even death on a cross!

7. Effective Time Management

We believe in effective time management where we become good stewards of our time. Punctuality should be a lifestyle of every member on all occasions as this is one of the ways that we honour and respect each others time.

Carol Giaio Author Punctuality is an admirable trait, for being punctual displays respect for others and a conscientious attitude toward responsibility. Individuals who are consistently late might justifiably be viewed as inconsiderate, disorganized, or selfcentred, having no regard for the value of other peoples timeBeing habitually late shows a lack of respect for your employer and fellow workers.

1 PETER 2 (NIV) 17 Show

proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king.

8. Commitment
We believe that members who are planted and fully committed in AFC will flourish. We encourage every member to commit to the weekly AFC activities and AFC organised events.

NEXT Our Foundation With What Do We Build

everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. Matthew 7

24"Therefore

1. Chief Cornerstone We believe that AFC is to be built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ as the chief cornerstone by whom we take our bearings for personal moral and spiritual values.

The cornerstone (or foundation stone) concept is derived from the first stone set in the construction of a masonry foundation, important since all other stones will be set in reference to this stone, thus determining the position of the entire structure.

EPHESIANS 2 (NLT)

Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ 21 We are Jesus himself. carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord.

20

2. Strong Teaching (Pulpit Ministry) We believe that to build a Family Centre that is strong, we need to have a strong pulpit ministry where the Word of God is taught and preached in order to teach, rebuke, correct and train in all righteousness so that every member may be prepared for every good work.

2 TIMOTHY 3 (NIV)
16All

Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and 17so training in righteousness, that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

HEBREWS 5 (NIV)

3. Bond Of Love
We believe that God has made Man in His image and likeness. We therefore choose to fellowship in love with all of Gods people where there is no discrimination along cultural, gender or racial lines. As we love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, we also love others as ourselves.

JOHN 13 (NIV)

4. Prayer
We believe that Christ is the vine and we are the branches. Apart from Him we can do nothing. We believe that the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

4Remain

in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. JOHN 15

5. Encountering God
We believe that God inhabits the praises of His people. We desire that in each Celebration Service, the presence of God is cultivated during the time of praise and worship. We believe that when people have an encounter with the living God, their lives will be transformed.

PSALM 22 (NKJV)

3But

You [are] holy, Enthroned in the praises of Israel.

ISAIAH 6 (NIV)

ISAIAH 6 (NIV)
8

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"

6. Pure Heart
We believe that we are a Holy Nation, a Royal Priesthood. We believe we are called to build and serve the house of God with clean hands and a pure heart.

PSALMS 24 (NIV)

Who may ascend the hill of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place? 4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false.

1 PETER 2 (NIV)

you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

9But

7. Gods Given Gifts (Spiritual Gifts)

We believe that the use of Gods given gifts can strengthen and build up members in AFC.

1 CORINTHIANS 14 (NIV)

it is with you. Since you are eager to have spiritual gifts, try to excel in gifts that build up the church.

12So

1 CORINTHIANS 12 (NIV)

these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.

8. Natural Talents
We believe we are stewards of the natural talents God has given to us and we use these artistic abilities to help us achieve excellence which glorifies God and inspires man.

16

Moses did everything just as the LORD commanded him. EXODUS 40:16

EXODUS 35 (NIV)

EXODUS 35 (NIV)

32

9. Encouragement
We believe in speaking words of encouragement that will build each other up. We recognise that excellence is not perfection but is defined as when we are using all our abilities to the maximum capacity. We encourage everyone who has given their best.

EPHESIANS 4 (NIV)

not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
