Their complexion maybe different from any other, but the culture it bestows is a proof of their unique identity.

The curls of their hairs reflect the curves of the journey they take toward ethnicity. Through the changing of times, they continuously preserve their mode of living and bravely go along with the civilization amidst the heaps of advancements on men. Twenty minutes away from the City of Legazpi, Barangay San Isidro in Sto. Domingo, Albay serves as the home to Aeta settlers. Set in the foot of Mt. Mayon, with its arable terrains and proximity to nature, the town is a conducive place for them to build their community necessary for their survival and for the preservation of their inherited customs and traditions. However, because of the existing gaps and differences emanating from the diverse culture, principles and so with the modernization brought about by lifes changes, some people tend to put wrong conceptions toward them. Although history clearly states these peoples significance being the supposed origin of men and to their contribution to the enrichment of the lands culture, they are at times being forgotten and worse, their existence is ignored by others. Despite this, they struggle to continue living by cultivating the earths richness and by proving they are just like anyone else. The Natives Humble Home Far from the developed areas in the town of Sto. Domingo, the Aeta Community serves as a home to about 30 to 40 members of the native group. Their dwellings are constructed in row, few meters near the Basud River and with the Mayon Volcano and the Basud Bridge behind. The houses are made up of light materials such as trunks of trees and bamboos fixed on the ground, covered with the leaves of anahaw, cogon or palms. Some inhabitants utilize old and used tarpaulins attached together, just enough to cover their walls and ceilings. The quality of these materials makes their homes prone to possible destruction whenever bad weather hits their place. As a matter of fact, there are houses which have no ceilings and walls where the heat of the sun and even the drops of rain could freely enter. The houses are evidently low suiting the Aetas small feature. On these houses exterior, the natures ambiance fills the surrounding. Trees and grasses grow on the arable land. The gentle breeze coming from a nearby river adds nature scent in the village. Planting is also obvious in the area where settlers grow vegetables for their food. Built in bamboos and anahaw leaves, a tribunal hall is also perched in front of the houses used for group gathering and celebration.
