Pipe EIbow
A Iitting that Iorms an angle oI less than 180 degrees (3.141 radians) Irom the straight
Ilow. Both connecting ends have standard pipe threads or are unthreaded and designed to
accommodate a pipe. It may have side or heel inlet(s). (OR)
A Iitting with two openings changes the direction oI the line. Also known as an ell. It
comes in various angles Irom 22 degrees to 90 degrees; oIten reIerred to by their
angles (i.e. 45, 90)
Pipe Bushing
A Iitting with pipe threads having a Iemale connection inside oI a male connection used
in conjunction with another Iitting, to connect in the same line, two pipes oI diIIerent
sizes. A bushing is threaded inside and out. Also a cylindrical part used as a lining or
guide
Pipe Cap
A pipe Iitting primarily designed Ior permanent installation during piping system
operation to Iit over or butt against a pipe or pipe Iitting Ior sealing
Pipe CoupIing
A straight Iitting having the same or diIIerent type pipe connection oI the same size on
both ends. It is designed to join a pipe or pipe Iitting to another pipe or pipeIitting.
Excludes Iittings with threaded external connections on both ends.
Pipe NippIe
A straight Iitting having the same or diIIerent type pipe connection oI the same size on
both ends. It is designed to join a pipe or pipe Iitting to another pipe or pipeIitting.
Excludes Iittings with threaded external connections on both ends. A short length oI pipe
installed between couplings or other Iittings
Pipe PIug
A pipe Iitting primarily designed Ior permanent installation during piping systems
operations to Iit into another pipe or pipe Iitting Ior sealing. It usually is threaded. (OR)
Male threaded Iitting which seals the end run oI a pipe when Iitted into a Iemale threaded
Iitting.
Pipe Reducer
A straight pipe Iitting having a diIIerent size connection on each end. It is designed to
join two pipes oI diIIerent sizes or two pipeIittings oI diIIerent sizes. (OR) A Iitting that
connects pipes oI diIIerent sizes together.
Pipe Tee
T-shaped Iitting with three openings that allow another pipe to be joined at a 90-degree
angle, used to create branch lines.
Pipe Union
A straight pipeIitting designed to join two lengths oI pipe or pipeIittings in such a manner
that they may be disconnected without disturbing the rest oI the pipeline. The end
connections have pipe threads or are unthreaded and designed to accommodate a pipe.
(OR) Three piece Iitting that joins two sections oI pipe, but allows them to be
disconnected without cutting the pipe.
